  1. I’d also be curious to know how it works. Does it go by committee or by subcommittee? For example, would they combine all applications in a certain overall committee (e.g., committee 4) for a waitlist or would the waitlist be based only on your position in your subcommittee?
  2. Yeah, it's my first year applying. I'm finishing up my master's degree and my score was 8.71 and the last funded in my committee was 8.85. 88/160 and they funded 75.
  3. How do you know if you're waitlisted? I'm 13 spots away from the last funded application. I'm really conflicted about what to do. I have until this Friday to give my decision for continuing to the a PhD program. If there's a good chance of getting off a waitlist maybe I'd accept my PhD offer, but if not I'm strongly considering ending at the masters level.
  4. I followed your directions, and I was able to get into something, but then what? I clicked the link that says, "SSHRC Extranet for Applicants," and it says Access Denied. What do we click once we've reset the password?
  5. Well it's been almost an hour since I got the email, and there were no follow-up emails with any corrections, so I'm assuming we won't find out anything until tomorrow.
  6. Why would they send out emails when they're closed for the day? That makes no sense.
  7. I got the email as well, but both links bring me to the exact same page. There is nowhere to register on that page. What the heck!
  8. Nvm - just got the email now about the results coming next week.
  9. My classmate (same program and institution) just got the email about this ~10 min ago, but my inbox is empty. It’s odd they’d send them at different times. Anyone else still waiting for the email?
  10. Okay, good to know. Thanks! Sorry . . . first time applying, so I have lots of questions. Do you get to see your scores when you see your result?
  11. Just to clarify, what exactly is the SSHRC extranet? Is it the portal we used to apply for the fellowship/CGS-D? The portal we used to apply for the CGS-M? Something else?
  12. It's my first time applying as well. I've read that for some individuals May is the earliest start date, so I'm not sure how that would work if results weren't released until the end of April/early May.
  13. Just curious . . . anyone know if SSHRC, CIHR, and NSERC release all of the results on the same day or do they get released on different days depending on which funding agency you applied to?
  14. I’m not sure I’m understanding the problem. The cgs-m application required the CCV and the portal for the cgs-d awards is completely different than the one for cgs-m. It sounds like you think you didn’t update the doctoral portal CV section with all your recent info? I probably wouldn’t stress too much if that’s the case. I’ve read that some applications get viewed for 5-8 mins, and given the scoring criteria, I can’t see that making or breaking an application. Provided that you had to hit the “Verify” button, I’m not sure they could do anything for you at this point. If your application got forwarded then your raters obviously didn’t see an issue and felt you had a strong application. Also, I know that when I finished my application all files were merged into one pdf. I saved that pdf, and so I can see exactly what I submitted. If you saved that pdf document then you should be able to see exactly what you submitted, and you can check what is on the CV section.
  15. Mine disappeared in February, or at least that’s when I noticed it. The CV section is still visible to me. It’s my first time applying, as I’m finishing my masters, but from what I’ve read it’s normal.
  16. This is only a guess, but I suspect they limit the number of people on waitlists so they don’t give people false hope of getting in. Given that they keep other lists/backups, it sounds like occasionally they pull beyond the waitlist, but I don’t think it’s common. I suspect so many people are backups because it ensures they fill the program in the case that an unusually high number of people decline. Last year for U of A SCCP they took 5 people, and they accepted 8 in my cohort, so there’s already so few people they accept into a program in a given year that it’s unlikely they’d need to fill several spots after acceptances. For CP, I believe they took 10 people last year. If I remember correctly, I think the numbers worked out to 6 course-based and 4 thesis-based students.
  17. Their website says April, but they don’t provide a specific date in April, or at least I couldn’t seem to find one on the website. I’m hoping it’s earlier rather than later in April, as the availability of funding or lack thereof will inform my next big decision. I’ve applied to continue to the PhD program at my school following my master’s degree, but I’m undecided until I know more about the funding situation.
  18. A few years ago, for MSc SACP at UCalgary, the admission offer lasted exactly one month, so perhaps give it at least a month.
  19. They don’t do interviews. Some supervisors may meet you for an interview beforehand if you ask, but they cannot use anything from the interview as part of the admissions process since an interview is not a formal admission requirement. For the 2020 intake, acceptances went out Feb 13th. For the intake last year, acceptances went out in March. I’m not sure what their timeline is this year for the MEd, but PhD applications for their SCCP program are due Feb 15th, so I suspect they’ll be done with their MEd decisions by then or shortly after. For admissions, once they’ve made a decision, you’ll find your admission status in your portal along with a letter.
  20. Hey, I’m a current student in the U of A SCCP program. Acceptances last year were released around early/mid March (due, in part, to the pandemic from my understanding). The year prior the acceptances were released around mid February.
  21. Not an application question per se, but for doctoral applicants on this form, did you apply for CGS-D / doctoral fellowships? If so, perhaps you can provide some clarification. My SSHRC portal shows an end date, so I’m not sure if this means my application is going to the next round in the national competition or if I’m done at this stage. Any ideas? This is what I see on my end (see image below).
  22. MSc SACP at UCalgary may not interview. I received an official offer from them in Feb 2020 (with an informal offer via email in January of that same year a few weeks before the official offer came), and they never interviewed me. So…hopefully that provides some people some hope! I’d say it’s def a bit early to hear back from them.
  23. Hmmm, it's interesting they shared your ranking with you. I don't think the initial ranking matters much, as I thought the initial rankings at the university level are used to determine whose application gets forwarded based on the quota / allocation / cutoff. I could be completely wrong though. I'm a novice to the whole process. At first, I didn't even even know I could apply this year because I'm still finishing my master's program. Preparing a funding application for doctoral studies was a wild ride, especially because I had practicum, coursework, work, and volunteer responsibilities happening at the same time. Ultimately, I'm just pleased I finished the application.
  24. I've heard mixed things about the interview/no interview for SACP (school psych) at UCalgary. Personally, I was accepted to their SACP program in 2020 (early Feb) and they never interviewed me. That said, I think they interview some people, so it may be on a case-by-case basis. I never ended up attending there though, so I really don't know much more about it. Too early to hear anything from back from UAlberta . . . I don't know much about the other programs, so I can't comment on the others.
