Agreed! I always struggle with finding my footing in a new city/town. I've moved enough now to know that I'm guaranteed to experience a month-long emotional low that comes from sudden instability and the feeling of being uprooted. Trying to navigate a new physical and social landscape doesn't help either. What helps me most is just time, really. Once I feel settled in a new routine, the melancholy and much of the stress goes away.

I got an acceptance to UGA today! It's from the program director and it's unofficial, but they seem to suggest it's all but official and we're just waiting for the Graduate School to finalize everything. I can finally say with relative certainty that I WILL be starting a PhD in the fall! FWIW, the interview weekend was 1/30-2/1, so two full weeks passed. Today was the beginning of week 3 post-interview.

A gay year sounds like a great way to rebound from rejection!
