@Rani13 Thank you for the insider information. It's a shame to hear about the whiteness issue. It's an issue in Medieval Studies as well, but we keep fighting the good fight, so I hope Tufts is able to do so as well.

@tinymica DO NOT! "Don't Open Dead Inside!" It made me have a minor freak-out, even though I'm aware of the issues we all face.

@onerepublic96 Thank you, thank you, for your very kind words. Sometimes it's hard not to get lost in the fear that accompanies this space. It was hard to see some people so completely adamant that anything outside of a top 10-20 is a complete waste of time that will only result in regret.

Out of reacts but I am right there with you @gooniesneversaydie

At this point, I just want to get into A program let alone THE program.

With the help of this group I am starting to realize how things do work out for a reason so I wish the best to you in your decision and to everyone as the rest of the application season shakes out. Cheers to one more bit of ice cream lol??

Spoke to two friends last night lamenting about the current situation. Neither understands the world of academia, but were supportive nonetheless. However, when I explained that one possible reason for rejection is that another medievalist was chosen over me, one friend shouts, "Wait! God! There are more of you??? Who the f**k studies that?? Who else chooses to study medieval sh*t??" Then, my other eloquent friend shouts, "Nerds, that's who! You should start a nerd school, so the rest of the nerds can attend nerd school!"

And there we have it, friends. The origin story of how I started my very own "medieval nerd school."

    All are welcome.

Honestly though... medievalists unite. My friends although supportive do not get my specialty AT ALL! Glad to hear I'm not alone. I hope your app season is going better than mine lol

Just a little strange because it said something like “you're on the waitlist but let us know if you actually want to be on it.” Just a little different from the standard “you're on the waitlist and we'll be in touch if there's any movement.”

Same email here. Like are you surrrreeeee you want to be considered when someone else pulls out of consideration? Weird but I will take it with open arms

YES! Someone brought donuts in to the office, so my frantic page-refreshes are now fueled by excess sugar! All the UConn acceptances on the board make me fairly sure it's a rejection for me. Still a bunch of programs pending, but I haven't heard from any this week.

Feel this so hard! I am still an undergrad but a friend bought just me a dozen donuts knowing this app cycle has not been my friend thus far. Sending good vibes to all this Valentine's Day!!

  5. Hi All! I cannot tell you how much of a blessing this thread has been knowing everyone else is freaking out just as much as I am. I am currently an undergraduate living on a hope and a prayer that I can be successful through my first application cycle.

Kind of a dumb question but a lot of my applications were through apply web and I have no idea how to check the status. I applied to WASHU and received no email to check things but I see in results acceptances and rejections. How do I check my status to see?
