Thought I should chime in with my results, although I'm def not in the same league as you guys haha. Got into UT Austin's Business Analytics, CMU's MISM in the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Track, USF DS with a scholarship, and got waitlisted at NYU(I'm assuming there's almost no chance to get off this so in my mind this is a reject).
Rejected from GATech MSiA and NU MSiA.
Not heard from Columbia DS yet so I'm assuming it'll either be a waitlist or rejection.
I'll likely be headed to CMU if I don't hear from Columbia soon. Let me know if you guys need any info on CMU/UT Austin/USF. I've researched their programs quite a bit.

SaltyNuts got a reaction from DrF8 in MS Data Science in NYU Courant or UW Seattle?
Is this the 2-year full-time NYU program? Their MS in Data Science is supposed to be awesome. You might even get to learn from Yann LeCun himself. I would pick NYU over University of Washington (assuming you've been accepted to the same program I'm referring to).

From the looks of it so far, University of Washington’s MS Data Science. Unless I get an acceptance from Berkeley or Northwestern, then I might have to reconsider.

Really the duration of the program! NYU's program is 2-years which fit my needs better. My undergrad wasn't in STEM and I wanted the opportunity to really immerse myself in the curriculum and feel like I earned the title of "data scientist". NYU's program from what I hear is based heavily on math theory, which is a big plus. Georgia tech is a great engineering school, but the program was only 1 year. Also, my girlfriend's best friends all live in NYC, which made the decision a bit easier too haha.

Nothing heard yet either from UCLA. But if I were you I would choose Stanford without a second thought. They are ranked 1 for a reason.

@KMickey There was an event called "Admitted Students Day" on 16th February 2021. Basically, admitted students were briefed about the curriculum and allowed to interact with the program director and current students/alumni. It was quite awesome!
Anyway... only about 12 or 13 admitted students were present. So my best guess is that Northwestern will definitely be accepting more students during the February/March period. The target cohort size is ~40 students, and I believe that only the first round of intake has been completed so far. Again, I have no way of verifying this. But I still feel reasonably certain.
Either way, wish you all the best! I'm sure you'll make it

I am a current international graduate student, so even though I'm in a different situation, I understand your concerns. However, I would like to offer a more optimistic perspective. The new academic year will start on sooner than in five months. No one knows how the virus will develop till then, but even if things do not get better, I don't think a travel ban can be sustained for so long. By that time I am positive there will be better coping mechanisms in place. I really doubt that come September travel bans will make sense anymore. It is natural to worry about something as momentous as grad school in these difficult times, but there is still light ahead!
