No, but I emailed Ms. Moon and she told me that I was waitlisted because they received over 150 applications. It's very odd; I don't know anyone who was admitted. I'm glad you'll join NC State. Congrats!!!! -

I applied to the Ph.D. in TLPL (LLSI), but I haven't heard anything from them, I mean, Kay Moon told me they would finalize the decisions and notify the admitted guys before February ends. Let's see, it's Feb 22 today. I'm not so concerned about it because I was admitted to other programs, and I will continue in my university (UIUC). -

I wouldnāt say this is s rejection phrase. I know my advisor says it to everyone after he interviews them. My advisor is the director of my program, so Iād say itās a pretty standard phrase that doesnāt mean much! -

Iām glad you were interviewed by Maryland. Did you apply for the Applied Linguistics and Language Education Ph.D. in the College of Education or did you apply for the Ph.D. in Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics? Congratulations on your admittance to Ohio! -

Hi, Iām glad you started this discussion. I applied to 3 programs, but I only heard from the university Iām currently doing my masterās. UIUC - accepted University of Maryland - Nothing yet. Arizona State - Nothing yet. -
1. Yes! We usually have assistantships here. 2. Well, we don't make a lot of money here, but it's enough for me and my family (my wife and two kids). Most programs pay "decent" stipends. 3. It's usually simple. You'll need a statement of purpose, recommendation letters, resume, writing sample, and some cases GRE. Hope it helps!

Hi @AnxiousBeaver! Iām so really sorry, I only saw it today. I ended up negotiating my funding with Illinous. Iām in my second semester here! Itās not an easy program ? What about you? Howās grad school going?

Hi guys! As you know, I was accepted to the University of Illinois and the University of Alabama. I already accepted Illinoisās offer, but I can change my decision until April 15th. If you guys had to choose between these two outstanding universities, which one would you choose? Illinois: Stipend: USD 12,738 Health insurance: partial Proof of funding: USD 24,000 (for myself + dependents) Sponsor: a friend of mine, an American citizen. - - - Alabama Stipend: USD 14,364 Health insurance: full coverage Proof of funding: USD 16,036 (because I have 3 dependents - if it were only me, I would need to show proof of funding of USD 1,036) Loomis Scholarship funding (book aid): USD 800 Sponsor: I wouldnāt need a sponsor at the UA. I can use my own funds. Iām curious to know which one you guys would choose.

Thanks! This is really kind of you!

Guys! I have awesome news (again)! ? I was officially accepted to the University of Alabama. Iām really happy, even thought Iāve already said YES to Illinois ?
-
Thanks, VLE! Iāve just talked to someone in my department and they told me Iāll have to show a proof of funding of US$24,241 ? Iām not happy with that. I dunno what Iām going to do.

Sorry, I only saw it now. Yes, I received my funding offer even before. The head of the department emailed me to say I had been awarded financial support in the form of at 33% time Teaching Assistantship for the academic years of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. I couldnāt be happier. I am now only concerned about the proof of funding because I have three dependents, but I havenāt received any emails from Illinois talking about it. I emailed the program director today, but he said he doesnāt know much about this kind of thing, so he forwarded my message to grad services. The information about proof of funding is available on their website, but I donāt know if it applies to teaching assistants as well. USD $ 24,000 for 3 depends is a lot of money.... letās see what they say! The open house was yesterday... it was awesome! ?
