Hey y’all,
I am like many here as a longtime viewer/scroller and a first time poster. I would like to tell my story really quickly. I applied to one school for the Doctor of Public Health concentrating in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education which is, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). FAMU is one of 3 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)s that offers a DrPH, the other two being Morgan State University and Jackson State University. 
 
I applied on 12/08/21 with my application and all other material submitted and received. I did not hear back from FAMU until 03/02/22 to schedule my interview. I interviewed the following week on 03/09/22. I just today on 04/08/22 received my acceptance to the program! Do not feel defeated y’all. The waiting game gave me so much anxiety and stress and now I feel a weight lifted but, just relax and don’t stress too much!

Wohoo I’ve been accepted to JHU for DrPH in health equity and social Justice. This is the only school I applied for. I appreciate having this forum as a community in this journey.

Y'all...this is my third (!!!) round of applications and I finally received my first acceptance from Johns Hopkins Social and Behavioral Sciences PhD! I think I'm still in shock. Hope everyone waiting also heard back!

Rutgers DrPH folks -- I've been accepted! I am so thrilled and in disbelief. This is my first doctorate cycle and so far I've just received a rejection, so I am just so absolutely happy about this. I have really loved every interaction with Rutgers so I know it'll be great if I accept. 
I applied to the fellowship program at JHU so since that'd be full funding, I'd probably have to choose that one if I get in. But that's getting accepted to that program plus the fellowship, so I'm not holding my breath too hard there. In any case, check your emails. 

Thank you for your reply!! his is very helpful! I, too, have 6 years of experience -- but mostly from work. Some programs ask for a writing sample - can you share what sample you chose to provide, as in was it work-related or a school essay?

While research experience can certainly set you apart, I don’t think it is the end all be all for DrPH programs. I have minimal research experience but was accepted to all of the programs I applied to. I think there were a few things that helped me. I have a great deal of leadership experiences from grad school and within my work. Although only in the field 6 years, I’ve had increasing responsibilities and have actively sought out experiences that make me a better leader and public health practitioner. In my personal statement I was able to paint a clear picture of why I love public health and how the DrPH would help me make a greater impact in my area. Lastly, I had pretty solid letters of recommendation. 
 
I hope this was helpful. I get the sense that programs really look at applicants holistically. 

I got taken off the waitlist on JHU, the only school I applied in this cycle. Feel so blessed!! Thank you, Everyone, for your support and sharing in the tough waiting time. This is a great community. I would never be able to survive in the process without this forum. Wish those still on waitlists the best luck! For JHU folks, I would like to connect with you guys offline ~~

You all have been a tremendous source of support and strength and I cannot say enough how meaningful it's been to connect with many of you offline, in real life (zoom), etc.
I didn't think I'd find a community of people who in the face of a pandemic, national unrest, etc., were like "you know what? F*ck it, let's apply"--but I'm so very happy I did. 
So cheers, you brilliant crazies! Now let's go leave our imprint on this field. ??

Hello everyone-so glad to hear all the excitement of new beginnings.  Has anyone applied to/heard from Rutgers' DrPH program and/or been accepted? I received an offer and would love to connect with anyone else in the program.
 

Finally finally FINALLY received my first offer of admission to the University of Maryland Environmental Health PhD program!!! However, it's unfunded for my first year so I'll be carrying a small stipend from one of my prior mentors and likely commuting from home to save rental costs. It's a dream program due to mentorship, connections, and projects so I don't want to turn it down! For those still waiting, it ain't over til it's over

Definitely true. But I think it’s because this thread is for applicants. When you’re already locked in, it’s not as relevant. And I think most hesitate to talk about their next steps (planning a move, quitting their shitty job, picking classes etc) when others are reeling from not hearing back. I’m a woman but I’m pretty willing to say that bragging about an admit while people are trying to pick up the pieces of a crazy cycle is a d*ck move. 
 
But with that said, if anyone wants to start a new thread about the hereafter, I’m definitely down to contribute! 

I have an interview at University of Arizona tomorrow... 
If I had to guess, maybe I was on some sort of a waitlist and then contacted after an unsuccessful first round, not very sure. Putting this out there more so for folks waiting for this school and thinking all is lost. It definitely is not!

I forgot to update as decision were coming in- things got a little busy. I ended up with 2 rejections, 1 waitlist, and 2 admission offers. I accepted the offer from Hopkins DrPH Health Policy track. I would love to connect with anyone else that's going to be starting this summer : )

Hi everyone, I formally accepted to the NYU DrPH program  I'd also like to connect with others going to NYU!
I declined my DrPH offers at UIC, UAlbany, Colorado, and UT Austin. (still haven't heard back from Drexel lol)
 
Hope folks hear back from programs/waitlists soon!

I am so elated. I got into the PhD Program at UTHealth Houston in Environmental Health Dept !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 
This is my first real acceptance. And though I am waiting on other schools, looks like this is my most logical choice. 
Just a little bit clueless on the funding! Could someone share the information if they have any?

Heard back from Rutgers with an offer of admission! 

Also just got a rejection from UC Berkeley’s DrPH program. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions the past month!!
 
Good luck to everyone starting programs in the fall, folks still waiting for decisions, and those who are reapplying. This was my 2nd application cycle and worked so hard to get to this stage! I’m also thrilled to say I accepted a fully funded offer from UCLA’s PhD in CHS last week! Stay persistent and strong y’all!! ♥️✊?

PS. Screw the rankings! If this program is going to help you achieve your career goals with 0 debt then that sounds like a steal to me!

There is finanical aid available and also scholarships. However, the DrPH is such a hybrid animal that it doesn't fit into many other financial aid categories so it is limited.
