  1. Hi everyone! Quick question — has anyone who has accepted their admission offer receive any e-mail communication from NPSIA? I've yet to receive anything.
  2. Hey! I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out for you this time around I applied for Fall 2021 and was accepted, hopefully my experience can provide some useful insights. I'll be graduating from undergrad at the end of the semester, so I have no prior long-term work experience. I have a very strong academic record (GPA of almost 3.9/4.00 when I applied) and some relevant internship experiences. I also worked on a supervised research project following one of those internships and was able to tie that into my letter of intent as a potential research interest (and my supervisor was one of my referees). My undergrad is a BA, double major in economics and international development — not the typical poli sci background, although I did take some poli courses during my degree. This is just my guess, but I think what ticked the admission committee's boxes is a combination of a strong GPA and a pretty well-defined research interest with internship experience to back it up. I'm also fluent in French and know my way around Spanish, but I don't know if that really matters. I hope all works out for you in the end, and props to you for already planning on re-applying (god knows the process is exhausting)!
  3. I haven't found a page with links to all syllabi, but this gives a brief description of all the INAF courses: https://calendar.carleton.ca/grad/courses/INAF/ I've also found that you can access some syllabi by just typing the course number into google (some profs post them on their personal websites). Hope that helps!
  4. Thanks! Nope, I'm currently finishing up my undergrad at another university (not even in Ontario).
  5. This is actually really sad, good thing NPSIA put it to rest! No one needs this kind of stress (especially currently)
  6. Hi everyone! I just got an offer this morning! Got into my first choice specialization, with a pretty generous funding package, so I think this is where I’m headed in the fall! I really hope everyone gets (good) news soon
  7. You can have a look at this: https://graduate.carleton.ca/application-status/ According to this it lets you know if your offer has been declined, so I wouldn't worry about being stuck at 'preliminary review required' forever. Also, in last year's thread, some people reported going straight from 'preliminary review required' to an offer of admission.
  8. Thank you, I hope you also get good news soon! I sent in the online form at the end of December, but slowly uploaded the required documents to Carleton central until the deadline (one of my references came in on the 31st, talk about cutting it close). From what I understood though, applying earlier doesn't mean that they look at your application earlier, so I don't think it really matters. Also, make sure to check the status of your application on Carleton central (not Carleton 360, mine is still stuck at 'preliminary review required' over there).
  9. Just got an answer: "Your file will not be closed if you do not respond to your offer by March 2nd. However please note that you can always accept the offer and should you change your mind at a later date, simply send us an email asking us to cancel the acceptance."
  10. Didn't apply to Munk, so I can't speak to that but I can share updates for NPSIA and GSPIA. I got my offer of admission from GSPIA on Feb. 10th (e-mail and full offer on uOzone). For NPSIA, my status went from 'Preliminary review required' to 'Recommended for Assessment' a few days after the Jan. 31st deadline and stayed like that until yesterday, when it moved to 'Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs' which I believe is the last evaluation stage before a decision is made. From looking at previous threads on here, it seems that NPSIA begins rolling out offers at the very end of Feb. Hopefully we all hear back from NPSIA this week!
  11. I think my first choice would be NPSIA, and then GSPIA (I believe this is the most common ranking). I chose not to apply to Munk because I found the course offering/program structure less interesting than at NPSIA and GSPIA (also, $$$). Best of luck to everyone!!
  12. The deadline for me is March 2nd, but while looking through threads from previous year I read that we could ask for an extension. I'll definitely be reaching out to do that this week!
  13. A bit of good news — I just got the acceptance e-mail from GSPIA tonight! I finished uploading my documents at the very last minute, so you all should hear back soon!
  14. Also curious about this! I’m applying straight out of undergrad (currently 21). I have some relevant work experience through 3 internships, but no long-term job in the field or anything like that.
  15. Hey! Also applying to NPSIA and GPSIA and currently finishing up my applications as well. Good luck!
