  1. i did on the 19th i got released from the waitlist— gonna go to an MA program and possibly apply again in two or so years for fiction:) third time’s a charm lol
  2. anyone else here still waiting to hear back from syracuse waitlist
  3. hey everyone, so i'm waitlisted at syracuse for poetry (2nd year in a row lmao) ... and last year i did end up waiting until the 15th for news, but i'm not on draft so i was just curious if anyone's heard anything on there. thanks!!
  4. hey!! this may be not the most helpful but i did my undergrad in creative writing at fsu and i absolutely loved it and attribute it 1000% to the writer i am. i still talk to my mentors (the professors in the crw program) even a year out of graduating, and they are some of the best profs i've ever had/ people in academia i've known. obviously the student body is different in grad than undergrad, but every crw TA i've ever had seemed super cool/talented/hardworking etc. so yeah, nothing but good things to say about fsu to the point where i even considered sticking around for my mfa there. fingers crossed for you!!
  5. hey guys, just wondering what you guys have to say about getting an MA in creative writing vs an MFA. i just got into an MA program that im pretty psyched about but was just curious
  6. anyone else waiting to hear from Rutgers Newark? more than assuming rejection at this point... but still want the email that says so...
  7. has anyone heard from american yet? i’ve seen one or two in the results so far but... trying to distract myself from other schools with an active task for this one
  8. i would love almost nothing more than to have “the least merit” in the class of the school i’ve been waitlisted for, and i’m also very proud to even be waitlisted, i think it can be both of those “over characterizations” without it being necessarily a bad thing. i think it really just comes down to what we like to tell ourselves, something like that can be encouraging and make some writers work harder, but regardless i don’t think there’s any accurate way to measure whether or not something like that is true. it’s all very subjective and also it just doesn’t do us any good to pit ourselves as writers up against each other like that.
  9. hey! i've been in tally for the past 4 years and i'm also queer. honestly, i think i've gotten pretty lucky with how quick i fell into a great group of queer people who were able to show me where to look in tally for safe spaces etc. (they do exist!) i'd definitely recommend 926 (a gay club, the only one in town! lmao) obviously this was much different pre-pandemic... but they had drag shows every friday night at midnight and a bunch of other super great opportunities to get involved with the queer community. The Bark is also a really cool spot, a lot of poetry readings/ zine/ art shows and such. i'll try and think of some more... i've just seen this post sitting here for so many days i made an account just to answer it because i didn't want anyone to cross tally off their list for fear of not finding community. it is out there
