  1. Okay, well it's clear I used too much peanut butter, but also when I would heat it, the peanut butter would break up but not become smooth. It would be really gross. What kind of peanut butter did you use? Also how long is this "stir constantly" and if I keep doing this long enough will it not get clumpy. Can you be more specific? Sorry about the questions I need my hand held.
  2. Has anyone had any luck making Thai Spicy Peanut Sauce? I've tried a few recipes and it always comes out tasting like gross peanut butter...
  3. It depends how long you have left in school. I've mostly skimmed this thread, but I would say choke down the apology. It's worth it to get ahead. Just stay away from them and bullshit them from afar. As you've said, you've made it 19 years, what's a few more? Keep your head up and mouth shut and take their money. Then tell them to (smiley face) off when you're ready.
  4. My classes do not start until late sept..... Ive been reading my clAss books. When i have time
  5. Again I'm here to say don't do the online thing... Yes the weird people can be anywhere but there's a higher concentration online
  6. To be fair the math section is not very hard. What is required of you in terms of english is 2x more than the math! You really just gotta suck it up and do it. Everyone's smart enough to learn what's on the GRE...
  7. In the United States we have something called the "zip code rule" for this situation.
  8. Maybe I was not clear, they were implying they didn't want *any* christians coming to the events, including the band. They made that clear in the discussion that followed... Yes, I could have spoken up, but it was pointless. I was still going to be there somewhat often, and I didn't want to be treated differently (which from the conversation I felt I would have been). Again, not all gay people have that bias, and I think the ones who do, regardless, are wrong. It's just another prejudice-- one that some people feel justified in having. You can't on one hand denounce bigots, and be a bigot in some way yourself. Anytime you dislike/hate a group for any reason is prejudice... It's like that quote from Goldmember (Austin Powers 3) that was really funny but sadly true in alot of ways where his dad said "There are 2 things I hate: people who are intolerant of other people's culture, and the dutch. [they just weird me out<--paraphrase]"
  9. To be fair, I think if you have that generalized sense you'd be a racist, even if you felt that way towards the majority (in the US, white people). You're still racist, you just are racist against white people, which is very real. IMO, generally this is an overt hate though and not superiority feelings.
  10. In Math I too tend to read slowly. Frequently when I come to a proof I'll do an attempt or two before reading it. Then when I reread the section (and I do re-read sections, 2-4 times) I try proofs at random that seem doable or I may remember a step for.
  11. in looking back, it appears I misread it. sorry for the misunderstanding.
  12. I agree with this. I do not however agree with using a website for meeting up with people... The internet is a great tool but there is still something off about random meet up websites. Find things you are interested in and then go to places for it. Yes, a cafe is also not the best place. When you're trying to read/work/enjoy coffee you don't want to strike up a conversation. Take a hobby you have and get involved. If you don't have one, find one! Or join a club of some kind. Try karate? Something.
  13. Why don't you read the second post of the thread and notice the poster... Also, with good conscience I can not tell someone to get a Windows PC. Sorry.
  14. The crate is temporary. That's what I've known people to do who are in process of training puppies. A trained dog never needs to stay in a crate when you're gone. Still don't see how even what you described is worse than dying. I'd take being locked in a cell over being killed anyday.
  15. I've never had to deal with it (yet). But I think 2 classes is sufficient on top of TAing. I really like to learn my material (after all we do have quals), and so I wouldn't have the time to put the effort in with more than 2 classes.
  16. Yeah If you're already accepted I'm sure they will just have you take an undergraduate stats course (if they thought you should have had one).
  17. I would recommend a mac book pro over a pc... you already have an iphone!
  18. To be fair, it'd be better to be fed in a crate in some grad student's house than to be euthanized in a shelter due to crowding. However, I would say go with a cat. Much easier to deal with and they won't be upset that you're not around during the day.
  19. It always seems to turn personal though. Maybe its just because people I know are very passionate but it goes from a healthy discussion on a topic like abortion to exchanging personal blows...
