My mom said absolutely nothing when I called and told her I got accepted to my top choice, unfunded program. This was after I had cried happy tears for myself.
After that phone call, I kept the acceptance to myself for a few days. But most of the responses were a combination of "Yaaaay!" and "How much money are they offering you?"

Can anyone elaborate on the better areas to live for those who don't have a car?

I actually got into two of the same programs I definitely would not take an unfunded PhD. Can you possibly call and see when you will be notified about funding? I was in the same dillemna of funding or no funding for an MA program and decided to go with unfunded Buffalo. It's not ideal, but I really didn't want to say no to what seemed best for me because of money. I'd wait as long as possible before making a decision, but if you can eliminate one option try and do that now.

I am fairly certain I am going to attend the MA program at Buffalo. It is by far my top choice out of the choices I have available. No funding definitely sucks, but I am VERY lucky to be in a fortunate position where I can pay for the MA (I had money saved for undergrad, but ended up not having to pay for undergrad). I feel confident enough that the MA at Buffalo will lead to a funded PhD somewhere, perhaps because it is the perfect program for my research interests. Hope that helps!
Congrats! I'm also almost certain I'll be attending. But I will have to rely entirely on loans. It's my top choice too.

I'm wondering if any one else got accepted into the MA program and is considering attending? The lack of funding scares me.

Put me out of my misery Buffalo... pleeeeeeease. "Not reviewed" yet? Come on!
Yes, yes, yes. Only school I'm still waiting to hear back from. Good luck to you!

Are you guys that got accepted PhD or MA applicants? I'm an MA applicant and haven't heard back from Pittsburgh, so I'm thinking it's a "no" by now.
I'm an MA applicant too. Thinking the same thing, but good luck to both of us!

Has anyone who was accepted received more info on the recruitment weekend next month? Dr. Larkin mentioned it on the phone, but my acceptance letter did not offer any details. I'd like to make travel plans soon.
If I remember correctly, we are supposed to receive a separate letter regarding the weekend visit. I might be wrong though. I don't really trust my memory at this point.

I'm one of the accepted Delaware MA applicants.
Good luck to those who have applied!

One of my professors initially told me he would show me a draft of my letter, but during the application process I lost interest in seeing any of them. I just wanted them submitted. I plan on asking one of my recommenders now out of curiosity. One school I applied to did not ask me to waive my access to them. There's really no awkwardness in it for me.

Does anyone feel like they made the WRONG choice?

I got into my dream program as well, but I do wonder if I've made the wrong choice. I chose an unfunded offer, and I have very little money. Sometimes I'm sick with worry about if actually being able to do it. It might not have been the wisest decision, but even if it's difficult, I know I won't have any regrets down the road for not taking the chance. I think it's natural to worry, but you just have to go with it, and not think too much about the "what ifs."
