I've heard fron Denver, Syracuse, and Fletcher. Still waiting for GWU, SIPA, and Georgetown as well as financial information from everyone.

Sounds like you've done some good research Aurora. Any thoughts on Fletcher's Security Studies program?
-
Has anyone gone to visit Fletcher yet? If so, What were your thoughts?

I applied for financial aid in December which i thought was pretty early and didn't get any. This might because Middlebury has lost a good deal of its endowment and might be saving money for its regular students. But given your experience I guess that if i dont get the full scholarship this week I can keep hoping. Thanks.

I applied to GW's Security Policy Program and got an email today from the admissions office saying that the Program Director had requested an additional recommendation from an academic as I had used all professional references. Is anyone getting requests like this? I was lucky to find a professor who was nice enough to agree to get one in by Friday and at least claimed to remember me (I can't imagine that this was true but who knows, I took his course in 2005). I'm also suprised that GW i giving me such a hard time seeing that Fletcher admitted me early on.

Congrats ashes!
How do you feel about it? Have any school that you are pulling toward?
I've been day dreaming alot about Fletcher and would love to go there but whenever I start thinking about costs I get a little freaked out. I qualified for a $10,000 annual scholarship from Denver but I haven't been impressed with the responsiveness of their admissions office (they sent me a link to a website for admitted students with a password that didn't work last week and still haven't fixed the situation and haven't responded to some other questions I had). My parents live outside Boston so I could live at home to offset costs (thought that would surely kill any semblance of a social life). I'm still waiting to hear back from Georgetown, I'm not sure how I feel about being so far from DC but I think Fletcher is better suited for my academic interests.
I haven't researched the Maxwell school in any depth though I will now that I got accepted...Well there's my thought process, pretty jumbled.
-
I just got accepted to Maxwell via Email instead of a phone call. looks like we won't hear about financial aid until the end of march or beginning of April.
-
My top choices are Fletcher or Georgetown for Security Studies. I'm not sure which I would prefer but I already gt accepted to Fletcher so I'm not too stressed, just waiting to hear about financial aid. (if anyone wants to give advice about this choice I'd be happy to hear it)

yeah, I could imagine summer in a dorm being a bit miserable but I hear that the campus is pretty, probably won't spend much time in the dorms anyways. I checked the website and they are announcing those scholarships the second week in March. My summer depends on this, I just want to get out of the office.

I received my acceptance letter through an email but I could also access it through the link that Fletcher sent out.
-
Me too. Which language are you looking to study?

Is anyone else applying to Middlebury's Summer Language School? I got accepted to the Arabic school but I'm still waiting to hear back about scholarship money. It costs a little over $9,000 for 9 weeks which is a bit insane and way out of my price range. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

Yeah i got accepted to Fletcher but the letter said that they were notifying me early (i think someone posted the actual language they used on another thread). The letter said that the rest of the decisions won't go out until mid-march so try to be patient and good luck.

If you end up being torn between either Syracuse and Denver or a DC school you should keep in mind that both Denver and Syracuse have small campuses in DC where you can study for a semester. just something to consider.

Thank you for starting this thread, I've been admitted to Fletcher as well and am undecided between Fletcher and Georgetown (though I haven't heard back from Georgetown yet). Not being in DC/NYC, does this mean that Fletcher students don't pursue relevant internships during the semester? You say that Fletcher has a brand recognition problem, does this mean that its business program is largely unknown? Also, I plan on studying security studies, do you know if Fletcher is stronger in some subjects and weaker in others? I am not familiar with the professors who are listed specifically as International Security professors.

Hi,
I'm applying to my Master's in security policy. So far ive gotten accepted by the Korbel School and Fletcher. I'm still waiting to hear back from Georgetown, Columbia, Maxwell and GW. What's your preference for schools? Im still undecided between Georgetown, Fletcher and Columbia (assuming that I get accepted to all of them).
IR Choices? Anyone heard of Monterey Institute?
