I will likely apply for some and see what I get. I don't have good credit and no co-signer. But I'm also not trying to go into over $100k of student loan debt (I'm at $30k currently with undergrad, all gov student loans), really trying to avoid any private loans. But I also don't see myself going through another round of applications. If I continue working in my current career I literally don't have time to make new work, certainly not "good" work, and I had to stop showing my work because I could never coordinate drop offs/pick ups etc with my crazy schedule. So I will certainly apply for loans and weigh out the pros and cons.

    Sorry to hear
I feel your pain. Out of 10 applications I got 8 rejections, 1 vague, pseudo-waitlist, and 1 acceptance and scholarship but still not enough financial aid to do it. I've contacted them explaining that I need more financial assistance and am visiting the school this weekend during an "Admitted Students' Day", so crossing my fingers now more than ever.
Best of luck to everyone! This process is a killer.

I emailed the graduate program director, who then emailed the financial aid officer. (I'm sure the contacts for all school are different. I would have emailed both the program director and financial aid directly, if the program director had not responded so promptly.)
The email I wrote is below:

Hello Bethany,   I have eliminated all but two schools from consideration. RISD is my number one choice. I really believe in your faculty, the vision behind the recent curriculum changes, the whole ethos of critical making. I also related to the students I met, and I loved Providence. I have a hard time envisioning myself anywhere else. I am so excited by your offer.   However, Parsons has offered me a 75% scholarship, which reduces total tuition for me to $12,500. I've attached the admissions letter from Parsons.   Could you make this decision easier by increasing my fellowship aid?   Again, I want to emphasize how grateful I am to be offered a place in the incoming class. At this point, I'm just trying to resolve whether the best choice is the best fit or the most economical. I was fortunate to receive a lot of offers, but it has been fairly easy to see that RISD is where I want to be. Sincerely,

Rejection from Tyler. Kind of irritated that I had to email multiple times and was finally informed that I should be checking on TUportal - which I was never given any log in code for until asking via email on friday - FYI this is an entirely differ t site than the initial application so if you are waiting to hear from Tyler still you might want to make sure you are checking the TUportal, not the application site. I had a lot of system errors when submitting my portfolio and additional material to Temple/Tyler and it took emails to several people to finally get a response. A member of their IT Dept wasn’t able to solve the issue and an admissions rep assured me that she would place notes on my application explaining the missing and/or later materials. Which makes me wonder if this had a negative factor in the decision. Also, It looked like all but one person from their advertised admissions staff was no longer employed by as of Dec/Jan. And when I visited their booth at the Grad National Portfolio Day in Chicago in November Tamryn McDermott (no longer employed by Tyler as of Dec/Jan) informed me that the faculty members scheduled to be there were suddenly unable to make it. It all seems a little suspect. Their decision to change the schools name to include architecture also made me hesitant and curious as to what sort of changes this might bring to fine arts there. So I suppose I’m ok with this rejection.

Sorry you had to go through that, I went through a similar thing with UARK, where they interviewed me (so I was hopeful), then some weeks later said my app was incomplete. I ended up uploading and emailing my transcripts multiple times, before they finally officially had them in the system-it felt like they were putting a lot of effort to put me through, but they were just putting their ducks in a row to reject my app. Argh.
Crossing fingers another school works out for you!! And me!!

I emailed them on Wednesday and got an email back
“Thanks for getting in touch. The department is finalizing decisions and everything should be announced within the next week or less. Keep an eye on your TUportal as this is where your decision will be posted. Let me know if you have any questions and best of luck!”
Hoping this means we haven’t been rejected just yet! I applied for Painting.

Waitlisted at UConn for painting! I had completely given up hope for this school, so this was a wonderful surprise. My fingers are crossed extremely tightly!

Hi- I reached out Tyler admissions to get estimated date/week that applicants will get their results. They told me the committees will send their decisions in next week or so, but it defers each department. So those people who applied Tyler, let’s cross finger...??

Been lurking a while. Got accepted to Tufts/SMFA with a $30K scholarship (15K/year). It's nice, but I was also hoping to get in at Mass Art 2D/3D. I just got a rejection letter. The interview had gone really well. I am wondering why I'd get into one and not the other - is Mass Art much more competitive? It wasn't the impression I had gotten... Anyway I am excited about SMFA and good to see others here are too. Good luck everyone still waiting on decisions!

While I do not personal have experience negotiating for more funding, my partner did negotiate more funding going into her Masters. I should note that this wasn't for an MFA, but for an architecture related Masters - so I'm not sure how immediately applicable it is.
That being said, she was admitted to 3 schools and told School A that she got into to other two and couldn't immediately commit. School B was in the same town that she lived in and also had significantly cheaper tuition. After receiving the funding offer from School A, she mentioned School B's cheaper tuition as well as the cost of relocating to attend School A in an email to her contact at School A. She was polite, honest, direct and brief and got an additional $2k in scholarships with one email.
I'll also mention that she took pains to avoid any sort of hardball tactics. She was very aware that if she decided to go to School A (which she ultimately did), she'd be working closely with these people for a few years and didn't want to start that relationship off on the wrong foot.
    I hope this helps.

Just was accepted into MICA Rinehart School of Sculpture with a wonderful scholarship. So overwhelmed, I still can’t believe it ??.
Honestly thought my interview went horribly (also sick with a high fever and strep throat at the time). So I’m just still in complete shock by this acceptance!! Aghhh

SOOOOO much RELIEF!!! Hopefully this is just the first acceptance and I’ll have some options but if not, I’m BEYOND HAPPY and I am DETERMINED to figure out funding this!

You should look into Allston. It’s a pretty cheap neighborhood to live in, in Boston. It’s a bit grimy and mostly college kids,,  but it gets the job done. I went to BU for undergrad and a lot of people lived around there. There are even some houses you could share with others that could bring the price down.
