ImHis got a reaction from Toya in emailing schools about lower GPA on CSDCAS
I graduated with my master's. It can be done, but your choices might be limited. Also, don't just apply to CSDCAS schools, but use ASHA to find other schools. I think the schools on CSDCAS are more competitive. My undergrad school used percentages and not the 4.0 system used by CSDCAS which gave a 2.9.  I emailed over 200 schools to find out who is likely going to accept me. I got rejected by CSDCAS schools unfortunately, but got into others at that time. I think it's because my CSD GPA was a 4.0 so I highlighted that in my well-written and passionate personal statement which helped.

First post here because I am just so excited!!

I turned in my Emerson College and NYUSteinhardt around the same time. My Emerson College application was a little quicker because my admissions counselor was almost always available via email. He would email me within half an hour and I've never had a better communication experience. Let me give a little background about myself:
I am have a Bachelor's Degree in foreign languages with a concentration in Spanish.
I found out about SLP/CSD around the time I had already cemented my major for the last time. My school, University of Alaska Fairbanks, did not offer a Bachelor's program in this concentration so I had to make do with what I had. Around my senior year in college during the last semester, I started kind of having a meltdown about getting into a graduate program that was actually of worth and very competitive. I had just moved to Austin and I had to take some time off from continuing my education because I had to stabilize my situation.
My undergraduate GPA: 3.29 [I thought all hope was lost because of this GPA] Upper-level division classes GPA: 3.7 GRE: Verbal - 156 (Above Average) , Written - 4.5 (High) , Math - 148 (Below average) Fast forward to around October when I finished both of my applications for only two schools. I must have been ballsy to only have applied to two schools. I still have not heard from NYU yet but that is fine with me. I heard from Emerson College around 3 days ago through email, which is the normal way for them to contact you about decisions, that I did in fact make it into the program. (YAY MY DREAM PROGRAM!!) That is why I am not even waiting on NYU anymore.
I kept freaking out about the fact that I was not the best student but somehow I made it into their program. Having given all this to you all, I hope it was encouraging and motivating enough to instill that numbers are not everything to a school. Trust in your abilities and what you've done and put your best foot forward. You are more than your grades and numbers. Give them the best writing sample you can and show them you want it.

Your body knows when it has reached its limit. You should consider cutting down some GA-ship hours or clinic assistant. Focus on learning the material. You have the next 40 years to work.

ImHis got a reaction from DDolores in Stressfull Fall 2018 slp applicant in NYC. GRE retake?
I can't open your file but based on my experience when I applied, you should be fine for the middle-tier NYC schools. You may need higher for TC. Your may also need higher GPA for the CUNY schools. NYU said their minimum to be considered when I spoke to admissions is 3.5 so you're on track. NYMC and Adelphi needs around 3.6. LIU Post accepted people with sub 3.0 overall in the past but may need to have good application profile like good SOP, interview and related experience to balance it out. Yeshiva U cares about grades in the prequisited and also look at the big picture.

I wouldn't mention it. Focus on your values and life philosophy and discuss how those can be applied to your goals in the field.

I am an INFJs and I think my functions can explain why I'm here. Ni manifests a lot during therapy where I can't explain why my client is doing what but I follow it and it seems to work. My auxiliary Fe attempts to maintain harmony in the world and to make meaningful connections. I truly believe this is one reason I entered the field. My dominant function is my Ni and I think the field allows me to use it to my advantage especially those who have difficulty to communicate. I am at a phase in my life where I am starting to balance my Ti, my tertiary function and I find the science aspect of the field allows me to exercise this function. I think this explains it all

I think the question here is why made you guys into an: INFJs, ENFJ and  INFP (or J) respectively?
Was it mostly nature or nurture?
Maybe I'm going to deep down the rabbit hole here lol

I got accepted by U of T and Western! I didn’t even realize they were accepting March 31st, I was waiting for midnight tonight! I was surprised by an email from U of T this morning and then again surprised when Western called a few minutes later!!
I’m still in my 4th year and applied for the first time, not really feeling like I had the most competitive subGPA, so I was completely shocked getting into both my top schools.
Congratulations to everyone that’s been accepted, good luck to those waitlisted, and to those who did not get in this year, best wishes! Everyone has worked so hard and we should ALL be proud of all the hard work and effort that has been put in <3

    Hi everyone!
I am so glad I found this! I am so nervous I wish we could just fast forward to April 1! I have a subGPA of 3.89 and around 140 hours volunteering with both children and adults. I've applied to Western, McMaster, and McGill. Does anyone have any idea what my chances are of getting in? None of the schools will share the previous year's GPAs so any input would be greatly appreciated

Hey! Bike storage is certainly an issue in Toronto. Graduate House is very close to 21 Sussex Ave where the campus police is located. If I have to leave my bike overnight, that's where I lock it (surveillance). I use a U-Lock for the rear wheel, the frame, and the post, and a padlock for the front wheel and the frame. Graduate House does have a Bike Room though so I really hope there's an open spot for when you get there!

I can only speak about Ithaca, NY, but it is an extremely LGBT-friendly community. At times it seems like they are more gay people than straight people. I did my undergrad about a half-hour away from there and I would go to the gay bars there all the time. It's a great place to live.

Try to keep it two or less, ideally size 12, Times New Roman, double-spaced.  The goal here is to be as concise as possible.  Explain briefly what you've done before, where you see it going in Grad School, and why the university you're applying to is the best place to go for that.

There are plenty of people who never get in. I applied three times and had to go out of state, and i had decent scores and gpa. If you want it, go for it. But please remember it takes a lot of hard work and there isnt much room to cut corners.
