  1. Hmmmm, it's tough to say. If you re-take it you might likely score lower on your verbal (regression to the mean) but perhaps a higher quant would be better. It really depends on the program. Maybe you should talk to your advisers to see whether or not you should re-take it. If you can get publications and presentations in the area that you are interested in definitely do that. If it were me, I would work on both. Perhaps some of your programs have unofficial cut-off scores on quant that you did not meet.
  2. Hi. I don't think your interview is an error at all, and you should not look at the results of this process that way. Departments at various schools look for different things in applicants, and so is the case that WashU liked you. Remember that clinical psychology is extremely competitive, and applications have gone up in the last few years. There are also a LOT of factors that affect whether or not you get an interview or an acceptance (fit, whether or not the POI is accepting a student, funding, etc.). I don't know how your whole application looks like but if you think there is room for improvement (GRE, publications, presentations, etc.) then I suggest taking the time to work on them to improve your chances for next year.
  3. Thank you! I e-mailed and everything is okay with my application.
  4. Don't give up! This is my second time applying and I just got my 3rd rejection (no positive news yet). I'm already making plans just in case I'm out this second time. Keep your head high.
  5. I also got rejected from Penn State. Letter came in the mail today.
  6. Hmm. I just checked one of my applications and it says "incomplete" although it has been sent for review. The item that shows missing is the final transcript post-acceptance..so this is not obviously required by now. Any thoughts? Thank you.
  7. Just got the official rejection letter by mail. It was dated Feb 22. Good luck guys!
  8. I know that when you say you are a graduate student in the application it automatically says you are independent. I think you should definitely ask them directly.
  9. It depends on the field, and even though there are formalities with this, exceptions can be made. However, this is not the norm. Usually, if programs have interview weekends and you are not invited, you are likely rejected.
  10. You should discuss this very professionally before submitting the paper. Usually it is ranked based on who worked more. Either way, it is important to have this very clear so no relationships or feelings get hurt.
  11. I don't think you should pay for your PhD. Taking a year off might seem scary at first, but there are so many things you can do to not only to improve your applications (to be more competitive for the programs that offer funding) but also grow as a person. Best of luck on what you decide.
  12. Somebody posted a rejection from Penn State via postal service..
  13. Hi! I applied to the program this year. I really liked the curriculum compared to other programs, but don't know much more. Any info would be great. Thank you!
  14. Hi. I got one for my birthday last November. I typically use evernote to take notes. Also, the adobe reader app is very good if your profs send you pdfs for reading or power points with class notes because it lets you highlight, strike, underline, write text, write with your hand, etc. Dropbox is also a must for me.
  15. I usually use: Best, Best wishes or all my best. I always put thank you at the end of the e-mail content.
  16. Well, this is my second time applying (although I did change fields). Last year I had these Plan B's: -MPH in Biostatistics (what I ended up doing) -Post-Bacc -RA/Coordinator job This year, my plan B's are (hope they are not necessary!): -Re-take the GRE (this is a must) -Take Calculus and Linear Algebra -Research job (either where I worked as an undergrad or at another University) -Revise a publication that is pending -If I could teach a stats class that would be awesome I'm not giving up yet but I think it is healthy and realistic to think of what you could do if you either get all rejections or don't really like the program that accepted you. Hope this helps. Best of luck.
  17. Could the persona that got accepted to Notre Dame's Clinical Psych program please PM me their POI? Thank you and congrats!
  18. I think they reply on the first week of April. Best of luck!
  19. I entered my master's program with 22, hopefully will enter a PhD with 23.
  20. I guess only time will tell.
