  1. They sent an email saying to expect something this month on the finalized cohort and more details on the 4 day readiness thing next month... I am going into Community Mental Health, but am hoping to change my concentration after my first year to Child Welfare. No my portal status has not changed either because it wont until the cohort is finalized... so whenever that  is.

Oh okay, I chose the child welfare concentration and was awarded the CalSWEC scholarship. I'm meeting with my cohort next month, and my status hasn't changed either. Why are you changing to Child Welfare?

  2. Hi! I also applied to CSULB- the last and only email I received was on 1/15 stating that my application was received by the school of social work. My application status states that my application has been forwarded to the school of social work for review. When did you receive an email from CSULB saying that you wont be notified until June? Are you wait listed or is your application in departmental review? Thanks, appreciate any help!

I received an email from them in feb. I'm not on their wait list either. All my email said was that my application had been reviewed, and I should hear back before june. It also stated that they couldn't offer me early acceptance, but that my application was still being considered. So I have no idea what to tell you. The best advice I can give you is that you should call them and check on your status. I also applied before their priority deadline, back in December.

  3. I also applied to CSULB (my status is "pending" and won't know of a decision until June) I've also applied to CSUDH and have yet to hear from them.

Yeah CSULB send me the same email. CSUF accepted me back in Feb. and I even had to interview. So I don't know why CSULB is taking so long to notified students

  4. Adri, what do you mean by "unanswered questions"? Do you mean that: I didn't answer all the questions? Or the faculty members who are reviewing my application have some questions about my qualifications and had to get a second opinion? I really hope that the second faculty review isn't a bad thing.

Sorry If I wasn't clear, I meant to write questions regarding your qualifications. I applied to their Orange County Campus and their recruiter told me about their second review board process.

  5. I submitted my USC application on Jan 8th (a week before the priority deadline) and I still haven't heard back from them. Is anyone else (who applied before or on Jan 15) still waiting for the admission decision? Also, I called the School of Social Work admission office today and the lady told me that my application is under "Second" faculty review (passed the initial review). Is this good or bad? I know that some people already got accepted, and I'm wondering why my application is still under second review and taking so long. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

I was told that if your application is reviewed by a "Second" faculty review member/s it means that they had some unanswered questions, and what to get some sort of second opinion on their decision.

  6. Still waiting to hear back from USC. I head about two people who already got in without advanced standing .I'm so anxious!!!! For those of you who already got into USC, how long do you have till you have to reply and pay the deposit to secure your spot? I'll be out of the country from March 12-20 so if I do get in, I just want to make sure that I respond and pay the deposit on time.

I haven't heard back from USC either, Honestly I was expecting to hear from them before CSUF. I submitted my application Dec 1. So I really don't know why they're taking so long. At this point I don't even think I want to go to their school. It's way too expensive and I was already accepted to CSUF.

  7. UCLA would be nice, although I already have a hefty college loan to pay off, and some social workers have told me a degree from UCLA may not help me to find a job any faster (thankfully I have a few years of experience working in the field, and other relevant training). Wherever I go, I'll apply for the CALSWEC grant--but there's no guarantee I'll receive it. I've heard from several satisfied CSULB graduates, and it would be nice to go to a school so close to home. I did my undergrad there, and I loved the atmosphere on campus.

However, Fullerton offers smaller classes, plus I have communicated with some of their competent, passionate faculty, and they gave me a good vibe. A coworker has enjoyed her experience in the program thus far.

I don't know much about Dominguez Hills' program. They're taking their sweet time with admissions. I studied there 6 years ago, and while I loved 90% of my professors, clerical errors and other administrative issues on campus left me feeling less than confident about the school. Their new library evokes a big budget sci-fi film (yay?), but other than that, the place and surrounding area are ugly.

So I think it's going to be Fullerton for me.

I accepted CSUF offer two weeks ago. So It's CSUF for me too. I'm still waiting to hear back from 6 other schools but since I live in Irvine I don't think I want to leave the area. What concentration did you choose?

  8. From what I know CSU's don't do rolling admissions, however they do have a wait list. CSUF & CSULB are already sending out their acceptance letters so I'm not sure where your applications will stand
