  1. UCSB is a great option! I was there interning at the ECE department last year. A great place with fine opportunities.

Another word about UCSB, it also has a growing tech start-up scene. I joined the NVC start-up competition and got second place with a software app me and my team created. I think UCSB for sure is the right place to be. Look for the professors though and try to choose which one is younger, that usually will give you a better future. When I was at UCSB the prof. I worked with was really detached because he was already chair and director of something really important and he wasn't really into mentoring.

    Take out message from here:

UCSB has a great place for tech start-ups too. Check this out: http://tmp.ucsb.edu/nvc/

Choose the place with the youngest professor.

Regardless from weather and all the hots girls; you will never have a bad social experience at UCSB.

UCSB is ranked #1 in materials in the world I believe.

  2. You havent heard anything yet after interview?

I wasn't invited to interview (so maybe I wasn't considered for admission?) but I'm also an international applicant so that might be why. Any way, when did you receive your good news? Which prof will you be working with?

  3. Question. Has everyone who applied to Stanford heard back from them already? Or rather, are there people who haven't heard back yet? I really just want to be rejected already so that I can stop stressing out. haha. I have this small glimmer of hope and want to focus on other interviews, but can't since it's still in the back of my mind. Thanks.

My Stanford rejection just got in the mailbox today. I'm an international living in southamerica. It said my rejection letter was sent out on January 22nd.

  4. Does anybody have any news about either MIT BCS, Caltech CNS, Princeton Neuroscience or Brown Neuroscience interview invites? :S

I'm literally losing my mind waiting..

It's been posted previously here that MIT BCS has sent out invites, the same goes for Caltech CNS.

  5. I was rejected from UC Davis! After talking to a PI since August! The PI contacted me initially too!! I'm pretty surprised and a little annoyed. They said they had over 200 applicants for 26 interview spots.

Wow, that kinda sucks. I also have two informal offers from Virginia Tech and UCSB.... I hope something doesn't screw me up either ... Where else did you apply to btw? What do you think could have been the reason for rejection? SoP? Rec's? No publications? Average GRE?

    Sorry btw :(
