  1. Hi. I have noticed that one of the students in the class I TA has been looking progressively more distressed over the winter term. She has not been participating in discussions as much, lost quite a lot of weight, comes to class with dark rings under her eyes, and I can see her collarbones when she takes off her jacket. At the end of classes last month, she asked me if I would be TAing another class she was interested in in the fall, and when I said yes, she said she was going to take it. I will be seeing her again in a few months. Should I say something if I notice that she s
  2. Hello all, Since I could not take GRE exam, I've applied gradschools in Canada. But I have been thinking about some high ranking universities in Germany such as Humboldt and University of Mannheim . I'm interested in work and labor, economic sociology... Besides, I think that I would have limited opportunities to improve my sociological skills in those schools in Germany. You know European PhD programs have different patterns than those schools in USA and Canada. What do you think? Are there anyone could tell about experiences in those schools? Ekinsu
  3. Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for for being a great resource for future applicants like myself. Currently, I am gearing up to apply for the 2018 cycle in statistics and biostatistics masters programs. One topic I haven't seen touched on much through search was class size. How big are the classes at the top 15 schools? I understand we have epi students and non-biostat/stat students in some classes, but how big are the cohorts? Do they vary widely by school? Thanks, Future applicant
  4. Has anyone used the gre prep courses through study.com? For example I am prepping for the Biology GRE Subject Test and the link is: http://study.com/academy/course/gre-biology-study-guide-test-prep.html#courseNavigation Thanks!
  5. Hello all! I'm trying to study for my 2nd time at the Biology GRE subject test and am looking for more interactive, class or video study sessions. Simply reading doesn't seem to be doing it for me. If only there was actually a test prep course out there! Any suggestions? I had seen a review here: http://study.com/academy/course/gre-biology-study-guide-test-prep.html#courseNavigation and was wondering if anyone had feedback about review courses on there as well.
  6. In my polymer class taught by the professor with whom I'm working with as an research assistant, I would say 80% of the people have no idea wtf is going on... We had our first test today, and I'm hoping the average comes out to be something like 50%, because I doubt I got even 40%! He posted the solutions online today, and there was one problem I knew how to do. The other 3 problems were chicken scratch BS in the campaign for partial credit. I will definitely be spending more time on this course and try to finish strong. It has been waaay more than what I had asked for. The homework make
