  1. Will $40,000 be enough for cost of living for fall 2019, spring 2020, summer 2020, and fall 2020? That's how much I should have saved up before I start at Columbia! I'm a pretty low maintenance gal and would prefer to only take out loans for tuition.
  2. Hey everyone! So I made my decision on where I will be going for graduate school, but now I'm trying to decide a place to live while attending. Since it's my first year away from home I didn't know if it's better to have roommates or if it doesn't matter. I've never lived away from home, so I'm not sure how I would handle living with a roommate, but I know it is usually a cheaper option and it could guarantee a friend to do some things with while I'm there. On the other hand, I am usually in my room doing my own thing and not one to want to leave the house or be really sociable so being a
  3. Has anyone else been accepted to and decided on the Hertie School of Governance? I've sent in my tuition deposit and all that so now I'm looking into housing ... and eek! Housing is difficult to come by in Berlin, as everyone warned me. There's these sites like SpotaHome and Wunderflats and others but I feel like they could totally be scams? Anyone else exploring options? Anyone out there at all?
  4. Hey Everyone! So my name is Amar and I was applying to grad schools for the Fall of 2017 and the biggest issue I found (other than doing the application) is finding affordable accommodation. I ran into this problem while doing an internship last summer, but luckily my undergraduate institution (Colby College) helped me cover costs that time around. I'm still amazed by how ridiculously expensive it has become to find actual affordable places to live in a lot of metropolitan areas (I applied to a lot of schools in Boston and around California). One of my friends actually pays around $1500 m
  5. Hello, everyone! Does anyone have any information about Bentonville, Arkansas or the surrounding area? I may potentially be ending up there for two to three months this summer and am curious about activities and general city life. From what I can find online it seems to be a smaller sized city with a bit of Southern charm, but potentially not much to do. If any of you have personal experience or know anything about it and the surrounding area, I would be more than appreciative of any suggestions or comments!
