  1. Hello! My name is Jessica, I earned my Master's degree in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience from London, UK. I am now in the process of applying to PhD Psychology, or Neuroscience, or Neuropsychology programs. After graduating in January 2020, I have been and still am endlessly searching for potential supervisors across Canada and USA. My research interest is in the neuropsychology of memory, cognition, and aging. I am particularly interested to examine the impact of healthy and pathological aging brain on memory processes and the strategies to improve brain function in order to reduce the risk of developing amnesic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) or Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) in older adults. I am very interested in neurological and neuropsychological diseases in older adults and how this impacts their cognitive abilities! I need help!! Who knows which universities across Canada and USA have supervisors that conduct the above work? Any response is greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you, Jessica
  2. Hello everyone! I'm in the process of applying for a Graduate program which requests I submit a Statement of Purpose. This is my first time doing one so I would really appreciate any advice on how to make mine better before I submit it. If you are up for reading what I have so far please send me a PM and I'll send you a PDF of it (unless you want a .word or .Page file instead). The program I'm applying for is Aging and Neuroscience so if you happen to have any advanced education in either topic then I would especially appreciate your advice! I look forward to your help, and I appreciated you taking the time to look it over.
  3. Hey guys! Anybody applying to clinical geropsychology phd programs or clinical programs with a mentor doing aging research? Which programs are you applying to? What about developmental psychology programs with a lifespan developmental/aging concentration? This is the area I'm looking at, and I wanted to see who else is going through a similar process!
  4. In September I will be starting my 4th year at a university in Ontario taking Psychology. I want to do primarily therapy - not so much interested in research, but its not a closed option. 90 average throughout university so far, honours thesis and undergraduate research experience. Volunteering at a seniors centre. I am taking my GRE in September but I have NO idea where I even want to go to graduate school. I don't even really understand the difference between clinical and counselling psychology and which is better for what I want to do. All I hear is that clinical opens more doors/higher salary ect. I know I need to start contacting supervisors but I'm not even sure how the whole thing works - do I apply to a masters program first, or directly to a PhD? I feel lost because I'm not even sure what program I should be going in to! Do masters programs even need a supervisor? Ideally my day would consist of therapy 100%, whether working under someone else, or ideally private practise of my own. I have a strong interest in working with a senior population and primarily in a health psychology related spectrum. Ie: coping with health problems/patient doctor communication ect. Please, I would appreciate any guidance possible. I'm starting to really freak out.
  5. Hey everybody!! It's rare to see gerontology applicant posts so I decided to start one! USC is my dream gerontology program and I'm really anxious, nervous, nauseous, to hear my decision. I don't know of any of gerontology students so if you are a gerontology student let's network! We are a rare breed haha. We can use this to talk gerontology programs, schools, admission decisions and just help each other out through the process of graduate admissions! I have applied to USC, CSULB, CSUF, and University of La Verne. Haven't heard from USC, CSULB, or CSUF but I got accepted to La Verne for Fall 2016 Gerontology! YAY!!
