  1. Hi all, just wondering if there's a telegram/FB/WhatsApp group for Fall 2018 Computer Science admits.
  2. Hello all! Negotiating offers for a PhD in Chemical Engineering between Amherst, Georgia Tech, Cornell, Michigan, and UT Austin. Cornell's offer has proven to be most financially competitive, yet all are within the same stipend ball park. Interested in biological research, primarily regarding cellular engineering. Little bit about me: first gen college student, female, first gen US citizen (originally from Moscow, Russia), currently at Northeastern University and completed my elementary through high school education in NJ. Also, I'm a total work horse and prefer a heavily shifted work:life balance. Currently 21 years old, looking to complete my PhD by 25 in order to kick start my career then! Let me know your opinions!
  3. Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows what the ranking/reputation is like for UMass Amherst? I am applying to the Sociology program, and I keep hearing differing opinions about it. US News ranks it 36 in Sociology and 75 National. My professors suggested I shouldn't even bother applying there, but I think at the time I may have accidentally told them Amherst College (which is not the same). I am applying to UMass as a safe school, but I still wanted to know, if anyone can pitch in. Thanks a lot!
  4. U-Mass Amherst pros: LOVE the program and faculty, 2 hours away from home, highly ranked and regarded program and reputation, on campus clinic, possible grant opportunity in an area of interest cons: 53k Grand Valley State pros: 39k, can live anywhere last semester for externship, family-like atmosphere cons: big move (16 hours from family), newer program: candidate for accreditation, stress of an accelerated program (15 months) ,no on-campus clinic I know I would like to end up in the northeast after I graduate. One school is my dream school, the other is very affordable and I know I would succeed there. My only worries is that the cheaper program is newer. Was accepted to U-Mass first and accepted a seat in the program, just found out that I got into the cheaper program today. Difficult to prioritize location vs. cost vs. quality of program. Size of program at Amherst is 25 students vs. 35 students at GVSU. Any advice?
  5. Hi all, I got admits from University of Massachusetts-Amherst (VLSI/CAD and Embedded Systems) as well as USC (VLSI Design). My profile is as follows: GRE:165Q/156V/4AWA TOEFL: 113 CGPA:8.75/10 So I was looking for advice as to which university to pick off the both and the factors to be considered while picking. Thank you'll

  7. Hi, I am trying to decide on which school to choose. Anyone have any experience in these schools? Which one would look better on a resume? I really like the idea of sustainable management but I don´t think id want to live in san francisco after i graduate so i wonder if it is nationally known. Same as UMass, I wouldn´t want to end up in massachusetts after.. Opinions? Thanks in advance!
