  7. I got admit by the MS in Analytics program at Georgia State U with GA and tuition waiver. I couldn't find much information about this program. I'm an international student, so I will need sponsorship to work after graduation. Is this program a good one? It has good courses and high placement rate, but I'm still not sure if Atlanta is a good place to develop career in the data field. By the way, I also have admissions from the MSDS program at U of San Francisco, and MS-MIS at Texas A&M, anyone can share come comments on these three programs? Thanks.
  8. Hi All, Each year we organize a Summer School for senior undergraduate students. This year, the four-day fully-catered event will be from July 3rd until July 6th, inclusive. The Summer School will consist of wide-ranging talks on the theory and applications of data analytics & visualization given by program faculty and industry experts. This is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to learn about cutting-edge research in the big data science and network with subject matter experts and fellow students from other countries. We are inviting applications from exceptional students worldwide. The event is free to attend, and moreover, the successful applicant’s travel and accommodation expanses will be covered by the program. 9. Hi All! I am a recent graduate (c/o 2016) interested in pursuing a Masters and/or PhD in Urban Planning in Fall 2018 (Interested in merging Public Health and Analytics - Using City/Regional data to create healthier spaces) Undergrad Major: Global Health and Environment, 3.39 GPA (3.76 major GPA) GRE: Haven't taken it yet, but I'm a decent test taker and will probably score in the upper 70s or mid/lower 80 percentile) Programs: Columbia GSAPP's MSUP (Urban Analytics), UC Berkeley, I have spent the past few months interning at public health organizations (domestic & internationally) Here are my questions: (1) Do I have a chance at getting into Columbia and/or Berkeley? Are there other graduate programs that focus on data? (2) Considering more competitive applicants with higher marks, is it possible to receive a scholarship or RA-ship funding for a graduate program with my grades? How can I become more competitive? I don't know anyone in real life who is in UP, which is why I'm here. Anything is better than nothing, so please please impart some knowledge! Thank you! **Also please do the poll above to help me be more competitive,

  11. Hi everyone I've worked as an analyst for 3 years and am fascinated by the application of statistics and related sophisticated algorithms by tech firms to drive business value. I want to deepen my knowledge base of the same via higher education. While researching programs, it appears to me that Analytics and Data science programs are sort of general purpose and don't go quite deep into the subject matter. Due to this I've been considering Statistics / Operations Research / Management Sci MS programs. Thoughts?
  12. Hi I wanted to get an idea from people who are also applying to Masters in Analytics programs in US for courses starting in Fall of 2107. I know it is a bit early and most applications have just started but I wanted to understand what kind of colleges I could target considering my profile which I detailing below Undergrad Institution: Middle of the pack Engineering College (India) Major(s): Electronics and Communication Minor(s): GPA in Major: 4 Overall GPA: 3.4 Position in Class: Top Type of Student: International - female Grad: MBA in HR - one of top 5 B Schools in India, Class Rank: Top 5, GPA: 3.9 GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 165 V: 165 AWA: 4.5 TOEFL Total: 115 Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Have close to 10 years of experience in Retail process improvement and Management Consulting My top choices for schools are: Columbia: MS Applied Analytics UChicago: MS Analytics University of Texas Austin: Masters Analytics Univ of Southern California : MS Business Analytics Purdue Univ: MS Analytics Northwestern: MS Analytics If someone could help me out with the following: 1. Am I Ok to target these colleges or are they too much of a 'reach' for my profile? Please suggest some other colleges where I will have a better chance of getting admission 2. I am 35 years old, mid-career professional, will that be a disadvantage for me as median age for most of these programs is 25-28yrs and median work ex is 2.5 - 4 years. For instance Duke Univ has clearly mentioned that their program would not be a good fit for me. Thanks

Hi, I am interested in a Graduate Program in Data Science in the US. I have a GRE score of 319 (V:158, Q:161, AWA: 4.0). I have been working in Business Intelligence domain for about 6 years now as a developer. I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science with a CGPA of 7.95/10 and a strong extra curricular activity background at University level (backed by certificates). I am very interested in the MSIM program of CMU and MS in Statistics of Stanford University. I am planning to apply to these programs(along with other programs of course). Can someone please take a quick look at my profile and let me know if I stand a chance of getting into these two universities? Am I being too ambitious with this score? Thank you. Cheers, Krishna

  16. Wanted to share a computer science resource a couple of us in the HCI group at Brown have put together. It’s a crowd-editable spreadsheet of data of ~3,600 computer science professors. For example, where they got their degrees, subfield of expertise, their join year and rank, etc... http://drafty.cs.brown.edu It might be useful if you’re applying to Ph.D. programs or faculty positions, seeking external collaborators, or just to better understand hiring trends in CS departments.
  17. Hi, I have been accepted to the following masters programs for Fall'16: 1.
