  1. Hello all, I have received admits from ASU and University of Colorado Boulder(CUB) for MS in CS program at both universities. I am going through a hard time in choosing the right college between the two of them. If anyone has insights/suggestions about these university, it will really be useful for me. About myself: 1. I did undergrad in Computer Science and Engg. in a Tier-1 college in India 2. I have 2 months internship experience only 3. I focus on improving my knowledge and skillset and do meaningful research and projects 4. I'm looking towards a career in fields like AI/ML/NLP after my gradation. So, someone please tell me how good are these two universities in terms of their coursework, faculty, job and internship prospects, part time on campus job, getting a RA/TA. Both are well renowned schools. Also, ASU costs lesser than CUB, but is CUB worth the cost and surviving through the extra cold? Does CUB is better than ASU in any aspect? I am very confused, so I am need of suggestions and inputs from GradCafe Community. Also, I have received admits from UTD and UBuffalo - SUNY for MSCS. But, I am focusing on ASU and CUB as their better. Should I consider UTD and UBuffalo also? If so, why? As per my research, ASU and CUB seems far better in terms of curriculum, research aspects, faculties, job prospects. Someone who faced a similar dilemma/someone with knowledge about both the universities, please share your insights. Thanks in advance

    Aalto vs asu .

Need help deciding between a master's program in electrical and automation from Aalto university or comp Engineering (EE) Program from Arizona state in terms of cost of living, student Life and job opportunities PS : got a 100% scholarship from Aalto
  5. Hello, I've got admits from the following universities, 1. Arizona State University - Robotics and Autonomous Systems (Electrical Engineering) 2. University of Southern California - Electrical Engineering (Multimedia and Creative Technologies) 3. North Carolina State University - Electrical Engineering (Probably picking Robotics concentration) Need help to finalize University among these, considering overall reputation, the course, Return of interest. Personally, I feel that the USC course may narrow down job opportunities and I can't justify the extra cost for USC. I'm primarily interested to do something related to Controls, ML and Computer vision. I have experience in the field of ADAS/ Autonomous cars, which might be helpful in the Robotics related courses.

    ASU Sustainability

Hey! Anyone here joining the Sustainability program at ASU this fall for their Ph.D.?
  7. Hello, I received admits from Arizona State University (MCS: that's MS in CS without thesis), Rochester Institute of Technology (Ms in CS) and Syracuse University (MS in CS). I have trouble deciding which university to accept. From what I've learned, ASU is least expensive, but I have to complete 3 prerequisite courses. I have received 30% scholarship from RIT, but I have to complete 3 prerequisite courses here as well. I don't have any prerequisites to complete at Syracuse (so I wouldn't have to take a risk in writing the prerequisite exams), and the fees are quite cheap (between ASU and RIT), but I've heard that it does not have good courses. How are these universities in terms of courses and job opportunities, and which one should I choose?

  9. I have received admits from these colleges for fall 2018
  10. I'm getting ready to apply to grad schools this fall. One of my big interests is Arizona State's MSW program, but I can't find any info on what their average accepted GPA's are or anything about acceptance rates. Any info would be appreciated, whether it's just general about the things I mentioned or your own scores if you were accepted to the program. Thanks!

    how to choose

Hey all, I have been accepted to NCCU and App State for my Masters in Speech Language Pathology. I have been at App for the past four years for my undergrad and am having a hard time making this choice. I have a huge desire to go somewhere other than app, just for the change of scenery. However, I know very little about NCCU's program. I have looked all over the internet for someone to give me honest feedback about either of these schools, but am coming up dry. I have a medical focus and want to work in the hospitals one day. I worry that NCCU's program may not be as rigorous as other's, but are surrounded by more triangle area hospitals. Someone please help me. All feedback is welcome, and I would love to know if you are in either of these programs how you like it. Please help me make the right choice!!

    ASU Sustainability

Hi! Anyone here applied to ASU for their Ph.D. in Sustainability? have you heard back?
  13. Does anyone know anything about ASU's multilingual/multicultural program (PrISMS) this year? Their webpage (https://chs.asu.edu/programs/schools/department-speech-and-hearing-science/multilingual-multicultural-program) lists a deadline of 6/15/17 to apply, but mentions that they only got a grant for 30 people and it started last year. Also, are the spots in the program limited, or just the funded spots? (i.e. Is anyone in the program without being funded?) As someone wanting to work with multicultural populations, I can't see myself committing to a program before knowing if I'll be able to get those classes and clinic experiences. Anyone else in the same situation? I'll be emailing the department too, but I wanted to see if anyone here had information.

    how to decide????

  15. Can anyone tell me the total stipend for a PhD (CS) grad for Fall 2017?
  16. I am an international student and am applying for MS in Computer Science, Fall 2017. Till now, I've got only 1 admission letter, which is from UIC. I expected to get another one from ASU. So I mailed them (both the university and the department) last week and they replied that it's still under review and that they expect to make admission decisions till the end of May. Nothing was mentioned about wait-listing and rejection. Now, my question is, should I wait for their letter? The deadline for UIC is May 15th and I'm already getting fidgety. I have to arrange for a student loan, housing, accommodations, resigning from job, packing, visa and all that stuff. So I accept the letter from UIC and not wait for one from ASU (despite my high hopes of getting in)? Has ASU already made their decisions?
  17. I have received admits from both Arizona State University and University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in Electrical Engineering. My area of interest is Signal Processing, and I am having some difficulty in deciding between the two. Any help in deciding between the two in terms of job opportunities, faculty etc. would be greatly appreciated!
  18. I have received admits from NCSU and ASU for the MS Fall 2017 program in Electrical Engineering. I wish to specialize in Signal and Image Processing with Computer Vision. I would like to know in comparison to these two universities, which amongst them is better and how so? The ranking amongst these two are almost one and the same and I dont really care about the rankings. I would like to know with respect to the courses offered in this specialisation, research done, availability of funding and the job opportunities. Thanks in advance
  19. I've been accepted to both ASU and Simmons MSW online programs. I'm leaning towards ASU because of affordability and completing a full-time program while being able to work more than at Simmons, but Simmons has a great rep and I had a much more pleasant experience with Simmons going through the application process. Simmons seems to be way more hands-on and ASU seems more DIY. I would love to hear from anyone in either online program about your experiences. Thank you!
  20. Hey! My name is Emily. I am currently a graduate student at Armstrong State University in my 2nd semester. I live downtown Savannah and will be losing my 2 current roommates at the end of my lease. Looking for 1-2 SLP grad students who would be interesting in living together starting at the beginning of August 2016 (most likely moving in to my townhouse/apartment). It is a 3 bedroom/1 bathroom 2 story apartment with a washer and dryer, and is only $350 a month per person (plus utilities). You will NOT find anywhere cheaper to live where you can walk downtown. It is an easy 20 minute drive to school and there is never any traffic. I love it because you can walk everywhere you want to go besides school (aka you only drive to school). I have a small dog (a 13 year old pomeranian named Davis), and 2 cats that are currently indoor cats. If you are interested please email me at bowenemilybowen@gmail.com or eb7547@stu.armstrong.edu...or text me at 781-405-1660. Savannah is an amazing city and Armstrong's communication sciences and disorders program is truly fantastic. Hope to hear from you soon!
  21. Hello, I applied for my Ph.D. in CS department at ASU, and also interviewed with a professor for the same and I received an admission recently, (a do not reply mail) intimation mail saying I have been provided an admission for the same. However, the mail does not say anything regarding if I have been offered an assistantship of not. Someone said me that I will need to apply for TA-ship separately. Has someone been through the same or has an idea regarding this kindly share your advice, opinion or experience.
  22. So I applied to ASU's LLT program as a backup. Anyone else an applicant in this year's cycle? Any thoughts on this program? I like how ASU has been named the most innovative university and also how since starting the new LLT program, ASU's college of ed has risen to #14 in the USNews rankings. Not sure how much that matters. 4 years of funding though, but it's really good funding.

    USC Online or ASU Online?

Hi All, I was hoping to get a little advice. I was accepted recently to both ASU and USC's online MSW programs. My goal is become an LCSW and eventually work in addiction treatment. I'm leaning towards USC as it has better name recognition and also places students in field practicums. ASU is far cheaper (about 1/3 the price) but students must find their own facilities to intern at while in the program. I also want to avoid the stigma of attending school online but need the flexibility so I can work and pay my living expenses during the program. I live in the LA area and USC's online degree is indistinguishable from the in-person degree. I feel like future employers would assume I attended on campus. If I go the ASU route, my internships will be in the LA area and it will be pretty clear I went to an online program. I also went to UCLA for my undergrad and like the idea of the UCLA/USC combo. USC is just absurdly expensive and I feel like most of what I learn will occur outside the classroom. Can I get any advice or recommendations? Thanks!
  24. Which of the following universities is better option considering research and job opportunities for MS in Electrical Engineering? 1. Arizona State University (Control Systems) 2. Northeastern University (Power Systems, Power Electronics, and Motion Control)
