  1. Hey guys! I don't know why i'm on here but I decided to gather opinions. I am currently a junior majoring in Communicative Disorders. I am on track to graduate a semester early (which is Fall 19), and so I want to apply for a graduate program for Fall 2020. I am unsure if I want to do SLP or AUD b/c there are pros/cons for both careers. I will list them below: Pros/Cons: for SLP: I want to work in hospitals in pediatrics, but there aren't many opportunities for SLPs in that setting, from my understanding. I DO NOT want to be in the school system, and i'm afraid I will end up doing that if I decide to go the SLP route. Pros/Cons for AUD: I like AUD, and I still want to work with Pediatrics, but I'm nervous about the job outlook/pay for AUDs (especially with paying for doctoral school). I also feel like AUD is being good with a lot of technology, which i'm okay with, but i'm just unsure. I will be getting hands on experience this summer, so maybe that'll answer my questions? Has anyone majoring in CD went a completely different route outside of SLP/AUD? I don't regret being in my major, i'm just wondering if there are other opportunities outside of SLP/AUD?
  2. Hello everyone, My name is Ali and I have applied for Audiology at Western and I am wondering if there is anyone else on the same boat? How was the application process? I saw that the GPA came out the other day so I am a bit worried, I hope it will be good enough for Western? Hope to hear from you and learn about your experiences
  3. I'm looking for anyone else who accepted at UNC! Anyone know if there's a fb page? It would be nice to connect before meeting in August!
  4. Hey everyone! Has anyone else here decided to attend Northwestern University! I just accepted their offer today and I'm BEYOND EXCITED! I really want to start a facebook group or something similar, so comment below if you want to join!
  5. Has anyone accepted audiology program admission at USF?
  6. Is Audiology considered a STEM major? I am applying for something and it is specifically for STEM majors. Is the PhD only considered STEM maybe or does anyone know if the Au.D. counts. I am aware it is a science, but there are specific majors under this umbrella. I read a super old article saying it was not, but since the article was super SUPER old, I didn't know if someone had more updated information. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Iowa Interview Day

Hey y'all! Is anyone else going to University of Iowa's Interview day this Friday (2/23)??
  8. Hi Everyone, I’ve read quite a few threads created by SLP majors, figured I’d start one for AuD. In the process of finishing up apps... How is everyone’s process going? Where did you apply? Anxieties about your app?
  9. Alright ya'll. I'm trying so hard NOT saying that the particular program I am applying to is my number 1 choice on my personal statement. I've heard mixed reviews about saying this in your statement, mostly being don't (makes sense), but has anyone found a crafty way to make this known without sounding like "pick me! pick me!". The only thing I could come up with was letting them know I am very interested in their program and what makes their program unique, but it's not strong enough and does not get across that I would choose their program over any other. Any suggestions? Keep in mind, I am not referring to saying this for EVERY school I am applying to, I am talking specifically about my number one choice. Thanks in advance for your advice!

    AuD costs

I am applying to 4 AuD programs. Cost is a huge influence for me, and so I have been calculating all the costs for the different programs. This has been challenging since every school has a different way of breaking tuition down, and I am finding some to be much more clear than others! Is there anyone else out there that is doing this for these schools and could verify I did this right? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Also, I am calculating resident costs, since I am applying to schools only on the Western Exchange Program (since I am from Colorado). The schools I am applying to are: University of Utah (Salt Lake City), University of Colorado (Boulder), University of Northern Colorado, and University of Washington (Seattle) Here is what I have so far! · University of Utah: Cost if resident: o First year Fall semester (13 credits): approx. $4,519.34 o First year Spring semester (12 credits): approx. $4,270.31 o First year Summer semester (9 credits): approx. $3,505.74 o Second year Fall semester (11 credits): approx. $4,021.28 o Second year Spring semester (11 credits): approx.$4,021.28 o Second year Summer semester (6 credits):approx.$2,732.43 o Third year Fall semester (11.5 credits): approx. $4,270.31 o Third year Spring semester (10.5 credits): approx.$3,763.51 o Fourth year Fall (9 credits): approx. $3,505.74 o Fourth year Spring (9 credits): approx. $3,505.74 o Total cost for resident= $38,115.68 University of Colorado Boulder First Year: resident, using estimator · Fall Semester: 13 credits o Credit costs: $5,580 o fees: $927 · Spring Semester: 10 credits o Credit costs: $5,580 o Fees: $927 · Summer Semester: 1 credit o Credit costs: $1,860 o Fees: $780 Second Year: · Fall Semester: 15 credits o Credit costs: $5,580 o Fees: $927 · Spring Semester: 15 credits o Credit costs: $5,580 o Fees: $927 · Summer semester: 8 credits o Credit costs: $4,960 o Fees: $927 Third Year: · Fall Semester: 15 credits o Credit costs: $5,580 o Fees: $927 · Spring Semester: 15 credits o Credit costs: $5,580 o Fees: $927 · Summer Semester: 4 credits o Credit costs: $2,480 o Fees: $808 Fourth Year: 9 credits · Fall Semester: 4 credits o Credit costs: $2,480 o Fees: $808 · Spring Semester: 4 credits o Credit costs: $2,480 o Fees: $808 Total Cost: $57,433

    GRE Superscoring

Do grad schools superscore GRE scores? I did really well on my verbal and writing, but not so much on my quantitative section. I plan on taking the GRE again to improve on quantitative, but I want my other sections from the first try to be counted. Do any schools accept the highest scores from each test you take?
  14. Hello All! I recently accepted my offer to University of Washington (Seattle) for the class of 2020 Doctor of Audiology program. Are there any other students out there that have also accepted their offer to UW Audiology? If so lets chat, find each other on more conventional social media platforms (i.e. Facebook) and start the Facebook class of 2020 group to connect with the other students! Thanks! Sara
