Does anyone have any insights on these schools? I applied to them for their Bilingual Certificate, but I am out of state and cannot afford to visit them both and don't know much about the rest of the department/professors. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Does anyone know anything about ASU's multilingual/multicultural program (PrISMS) this year? Their webpage (https://chs.asu.edu/programs/schools/department-speech-and-hearing-science/multilingual-multicultural-program) lists a deadline of 6/15/17 to apply, but mentions that they only got a grant for 30 people and it started last year. Also, are the spots in the program limited, or just the funded spots? (i.e. Is anyone in the program without being funded?) As someone wanting to work with multicultural populations, I can't see myself committing to a program before knowing if I'll be able to

I am a guidance counselor for a rising high school senior who would like to purse a track towards being a bilingual speech pathologist. I wrote to several of the SPL masters programs in our state (NC) and received varying answers. For the most part, if the university offered CSD at the bachelor level, then they leaned toward having students go that track. If they did not, then the university highly recommend they take the pre-reqs before applying (possibly minoring in CSD), but said they preferred diversity in their applicants, so any major would be fine. Thought I'd throw that same

I'm currently applying as an out-of-field (psychology and Spanish double major) student to graduate programs that offer 1.) the opportunity to complete prerequisites upon admission and 2.) bilingual opportunities, whether that be through a specific certificate program or they verified that they offer bilingual placements. I obviously have no idea where I'm going to get accepted, if anywhere, but since I won't have much time and all the schools are far from me I want to have an IDEA of where I want to go and what I want to base my decision on once I know where I have been admitted. How im

I’m a bilingual SLPA applying to Florida schools, so I focused on the field’s need for bilingual and bicultural therapists as the theme of my application. My question is: are second languages significant in applications for slp grad programs in general, or only for programs that specialize in bilingual and multicultural therapy?

I have my bachelor's degree in Spanish and speech pathology (double major). I was accepted to grad school for slp, and I attended a year, however, I was going through a really difficult period in my life and I ended up not being able to continue in the program because after re-taking a class, I got a C. I know that I was completely unfocused, and if I could take it all back and start it over, of course I would. I then took some special education classes after that, and did a semester of student teaching, which stands as an Incomplete on my transcript. I did fine in my teaching and I had all m

Hi all! I know you can't 100% accurately 'chance' someone, but I don't really know how competitive I sound overall. I just want to make sure I get into at least one school is all I care about! I want to specialize in bilingual kids. GRE Verbal: 160 GRE Quant: 155 Writing: don't have score yet but I think I'll get at least a 3.5 or 4 Psychology and Spanish majors both have a 3.9 GPA, overall I have a 3.85 Relevant experience: tutoring Latino-American kids, research assistant for a preschool study on inhibition (going to start this fall), observations right before I star

Hello! I am graduating with a Master's degree in speech-language pathology and happen to be bilingual. I am interested in pursuing a certificate offered by the TC Bilingual Extension Institute and would really appreciate impressions from people who've attended the bilingual extension or applied. I would like to know how selective the application process is (especially for non-degree seekers), what the lectures are like, and how have the seminars benefited you clinically and/or professionally. Are the lectures mostly geared towards the educational setting or are they applicable to o

Hi! I'm a junior psychology and Spanish major with a 3.84 GPA. I haven't taken the GRE yet but I will in July and I think I'll get around average, hopefully a little bit above, but I'm not that great at standardized tests (I'm studying REALLY hard). I want to apply to bilingual speech-language pathology programs, but I also need a program that has prerequisites. I think I have somewhat of a chance to get into these schools, but I'm not certain and it terrifies me how there are only 8. These are all schools with a bilingual emphasis program AND prerequisites where you do not have to r
