  1. Hi all! I was wondering if there are any people here who's anthropology PhD research combines elements both from sociocultural anthro and biological anthro? If so, on which of the tracks are you? Do you have advisors on your committee from both tracks? How did you initially present your ideas in the applications process? I'm asking because my proposed PhD project is rooted within sociocultural anthropology (which is also my background), but it does derive (at least potentially) from biological anthro, and I'm wondering how should I present it to potential advisors, especially in depa
  2. Howdy! I'm currently looking into graduate schools to apply to. My career goal is to become an academic neuroscience researcher, but my specific interests are rather niche and I am having difficulty finding professors who match my interests well. I am interested in the evolution of distinctly human behaviors such as theory of mind, consciousness, and ability to comprehend reality. However, I am particularly interested in studying why mental illnesses occur that distort these uniquely human cognitive processes. I would like to study the genetic basis of psychological disorders such as anorexia

What about tier 1 universities in USA/UK? And what about lower ranked ones? Also, is there anybody here from India who has experienced the job search at home, whether they are trained here or abroad? I do not mean to snoop. I am considering grad school and finally an academic career in the social sciences, but I am trying to figure out exactly what I should go for. I find whatever little anthropology I k
  4. I was just wondering who else on here has applied to biological anthropology programs (often grouped under the 'anthropology' umbrella) and what they're heard so far.
  5. Hey bio anth peeps! Anyone else planning on attending the PPA/AAPA conference in April? I'll be spending the entire week in New Orleans for the conference since I'm only 4 hours away. Maybe we could start a meetup or something for us all to meet each other and talk about how grad school is going for us, our research interests a little more (possibly making some future collaborators), and if you're not currently in a graduate program then maybe we can help answer some burning questions that you just haven't posted on the forums yet! If anyone's interested I can start a meetup or something for u
