  1. Hello guys, I was interviewed at the end of February at UPenn and my interview went alright. I wasn't asked many things and neither did I ask any intelligent questions since it felt inappropriate to talk over the professor (Maybe it was Skype that made it difficult for me to assess whether I was supposed to ask questions or not) According to the UPenn website, they are supposed to notify me in early March. It's 10th already and I haven't heard from them. I am growing quite restless and have started to believe maybe I am not going to be accepted. Is there still time for me to get accepted? (I have been accepted to other colleges but UPenn is my first choice. )
  2. I welcome all to post their admission threads here for PhD Fall 2019 applications.
  3. I am an international student with average GRE scores (V-155, Q-160, AWA-4.5) and a decent GPA. I do not have any relevant publications, or presentations, or work experience either. I was wondering if applying to Drexel University was a smart decision for me or not. I really want to attend this school!
  4. I've lurked around this forum for a rather long time. It's certainly US-centric, but I was wondering whether someone has heard about the Doctoral Training Centres. Unlike regular 3-year PhD UK programmes, these centres require students to carry out rotation labs, take classes and whatnot, just like a regular doctorate in the States. They are still shorter, however: we are talking about 4 years. Are these kind of programmes well/better regarded in the USA? In particular, I've heard about people being rejected from graduate departments like MIT Biological Engineering, Stanford Bioengineering at MASTERS LEVEL!, Harvard SEAS and yet promptly accepted by Imperial College, Cambridge or Oxford (Synthetic Biology/Bioengineering). Does this mean that these top UK programmes are second tier?! Or are they well regarded?
  5. Hello, everyone ! I graduated from university with my Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology. My GPA was a 3.91, and my GRE score was 308 with 3.0 in awa section;IELTS:6.5. I have great recommendations and have completed 3 research internships Here is the thing, I applied to 10 PhD programs last year, only interviewed at one, and was not given a spot at any of them. Which leads me to the next question, what did I do wrong? should I just stop applying and apply for my masters first? I don't want to disappoint anyone again with another round of rejections. Please tell me what to do nexttttt !!!! Thanks !
  6. Is anyone here for UCLA Ph.D Biosciences and City of Hope Ph.D Biological Sciences
  7. Hi guys, What do you think about my profile? I have this: GRE: math:640 verbal:320 GPA:3.63 International student publications: 3 (one as a first author, Veterinary Parasitology, Genome Research and Science) experience: 3 years as a Research Assistant at TSRI further education: MS with honors in Microbiology, Drug discovery certificate at UCSD (grades A's) Graduate courses at TRSI (grades: A's) 4 years in a row rejected by many universities (Life sciences programs) even the ones that are not even ranked. Could you give me any advice on how to proceed this year? I will not take the GRE revised, other than GRE suggestion is very welcome, someone with better luck and similar scores? Thanks
