  1. I was recently given an interview for the Clinical Psych PsyD program at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology - Irvine, CA. The interview is not until next month but I wasn’t sure about the program or how their interviews are formatted. I’ve done some research on the school but still am not sure about the program. I know that it is CBT and Psychoanalysis focused and that it is currently in the process of APA accreditation. If anyone can give me information about their program, what their school is like, or how their interview process works/questions they may pose it would be extremely appreciated! Also, I have some worries about going into a program that practices psychoanalysis as one of their major schools of thought. Any thoughts on this??
  2. Hi - I am reaching out for some advice. I'm planning to apply to clinical psychology PhD programs for the fall of 2020. I have a very competitive GPA, great letters of rec from mentors and years of both college and post grad research experience, but I am lacking in terms of my GRE scores. Unfortunately, after a number of attempts on the GRE, I still score slightly below 50th percentile in both Verbal and Math. English is my second language. Despite the very poor scores, over the years, I published 4 first authors publications, along with co-authoring about 20 other papers. I have also designed and currently run an independent project. My struggles with the GRE is really bringing me down as I feel hopeless that professors won't even consider my successes and potential due to this one limitation. I'm wondering if any of you have any thoughts on what are my chances of getting into a funded clinical psych PhD program? I've had interviews in the past, usually with the help of networking, but I wonder if my applications were simply filtered out in the past due to such low scores. I'm very passionate about research and clinical assessments and cannot wait to pursue graduate studies, but my lack of ability to bring up my scores has been holding me back. Any advice or suggestions would be great! Thank you in advance!
  3. Figured there were no posts specific to those applying for the Neuropsychology track, whether by program or faculty(POI). You can list your stats, background etc. Where your interested in applying etc. Space to ask questions about programs? Good Luck to us all !
  4. I got a 303 on the GRE (154 V/149 Q)...I've never successfully taken this test and I struggle with standardized testing in general. Is this a score that I could even apply to a PhD program for Clinical Psych with? If not, what is a score I can reasonably work towards (people say not to expect increases by more than 5 points)? So many programs claim to be holistic now, but they still have their "average" GRE score up on the website. I've taken this test 3 times in the last 3 years....is it worth taking again? Without mentioning any of my other accomplishments, is this GRE score bad enough to automatically have my application thrown into the trash?
  5. Hey there Has anybody heard anything about UIUC's MS Psychology program? I believe it's been recently introduced and tailored to students who eventually want to pursue a PhD but don't have relevant research experience/statistical methodology. I eventually want to get a PhD in Clinical Psychology but I don't come from a Psych background so I believe this would be beneficial for me. But on the other hand, I'm not sure how it will help specifically with clinical psychology. If anybody knows anyone in this course/has any idea how it is please get back to me!! xoxo
  6. Hi y'all! Love all the advice in this forum. I'm currently finishing up my MA in Psychology in Spring 2020. I have decided to take a year off between my MA and starting my Clinical Psychology PhD. So I'll be applying for and starting my PhD in Fall 2021. Is this a good idea? Any thought/advice/tips on what should I do in the year to amp up my PhD application? Background: BS in Biomedical Engineering Current: MA in Psychology, RA in 3 labs on campus, 1 poster presented on campus, no publications yet... Thanks!
  7. Hi Everyone, Im hoping to find some insight on online programs for ABA. I am graduating with my degree in SLP and was hoping to further that with adding an ABA Masters. I was wondering if anyone knew of any online programs that offered ABA and a clinical psych emphasis? If not, any reliable accredited aba online programs would do. Do you think taking an ABA online program would hinder me, or is there no downfall to this? Thank you!
