IDK if this is allowed but... Would anyone be willing to genuinely critique my letter of intent? I have about a week before I need to send it to the people writing me letters. It's mostly done but its not great. It covers all the basis IMO but has no passion because I've been so worried about it coming off as cliche. I've done impressive stuff and I LOVE the field but Idk how to write it to show that beyond just stating facts. I want so badly to get into graduate school for spring but this letter may not do it 😥 Link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n2UO3RW

Does anyone know if NYU offers funding for CSD students?
ccspeechie posted a question in Questions and Answers
I am struggling to find information about New York University's funding opportunities for students in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program. Do they offer any funding in the form of scholarships, grants, research assistantships, graduate assistantships, etc?-

Stats for Georgia State Uni and UGA CSD program?
Mal Humayra posted a question in Questions and Answers
Hi guys! I’m applying to UGA and GSU for my masters in CSD. Is there anyone who attends these two universities that can share what stats and experiences you have that got you into the program? -
I want to go into the SLP program but I need to do a Post Bacc before I can get in. I’m worried for so many reasons and I’m losing sleep over it.. First, I am not a science or math person. I was never good at science and it is my weak point. I am a Junior in Undergrad right now and I am something like an Educations major because I thought about the teacher route until I found out about SLP. I would always avoid the hard science classes during undergrad because I was so afraid to get Cs and Ds or even fail. My gpa is not very competitive.. due to personal reasons I couldn’

Hi all! Unfortunately this round of applications wasn't in my favor, so I plan to take the rest of the year to strengthen my application. One avenue I was thinking of taking would be retaking some CSD courses (mainly neuroscience and phonetics) because they were my weak points in undergrad CSD courses, along with some general requirement courses (physics). I've seen many people highly recommend schools such as ENMU for leveling courses, but I've also noticed that some say they're receiving a second CSD BA. Would anyone who has more knowledge of this be able to enlighten me before I go all in?

Hello! I was accepted to the CSD Master's program at Teachers College Columbia University. It is my top school and I am very interested in the bilingual extension program, but it seems expensive to go there and live in the NYC area! For anyone who is in the program or who is an alumni of the program, is all that debt worth it? Did you apply for any scholarships or grants? How are you managing finances? Do you enjoy the program?

Hello Everyone, I got an email for a graduate phone interview with Syracuse University in Speech-Language Pathology. Just wondering if anyone already had interviewed with the program? If you could offer some advice. I am just really nervous, so anything would help! This is one of my top choices. Many thanks!!

Hi all, I just completed my application and interview for the May 2020 Speech@Emerson cohort last week. My advisor told me the turnaround time for a decision would be 3-8 weeks, however since I applied so early, it may be sooner. I'm excited because my advisor said the interview went well and everything I've submitted has looked good, but I'm a little worried because my undergrad GPA wasn't amazing. I graduated with a 3.1 cumulative, and my GRE scores were fairly average (I don't remember them off the top of my head ). I'm hoping my personal statement and interview will push the decision

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has gotten into Baylor's Masters Online SLP Program and how competitive is it. I just did an informational webinar for prospective students. I live in Dallas, TX so I know that the tuition will not be too much but still expensive. I currently go to Texas Woman's University majoring in Health Studies. I was going for Occupational Therapy but I have more of a love for Speech-Language Pathology. Also, could you provide your stats? I'm trying to see if I have a change. Thanks!

I got into my dream school (Columbia)... but will need to take out an insane amount of loans to pay for tuition & cost of living. vs. attending a state school which will be almost free with a few scholarships i got. I don't know if going to an ivy league will benefit myself and my career... or if it doesn't matter and the loans are not worth it. They have an amazing program and offer a lot more than the state school especially for medical slp. I want to become a professor possibly eventually and think maybe a masters from Columbia would make a difference. Some p

I was wondering if anyone has taken a Speech Science or Speech Hearing Science fully online anywhere, that was easy and not proctored? (if it was a hybrid class that would be great too) I was thinking about ENMU but sounds like the professor isn't the best. Thanks in advance!!

The first wave of acceptances went out to two of my schools and I haven't heard anything!! I am freaking out and refreshing my email every two minutes. If I don't get in I swear I am selling all of my belongings and moving to a foreign country. This isn't fun anymore. I'm not having a good time.

Hi everyone! I applied to five programs for CSD/SLP, all in SoCal: SDSU, Redlands, CSULA, CSULB, and Chapman. I found out yesterday that I didn't get an interview for CSULA, but I did get one for Chapman and had it last week. I would like to see if others had heard back from CSULB, SDSU, or Redlands, or if people have heard an official admissions decision from Chapman. Let me know!!

Listen guys, I spent there last 4 years trying to get in to a program.. This discussion board can be disheartening, and you may feel like you'll never get in because everyone else is so impressive.. But there is hope! I have loved this field for the last 6 years. I had a tough undergrad (2.8) GPA, took the GRE's 3 times never did well despite numerous classes (V145 Q 144 W 3.5). However my experiences as an SLP-A and LOR'S were amazing! Last year was going to be my last year applying.. I'm glad I didn't give up. You shouldn't either. IT'LL HAPPEN.

Hi! I am retaking the GRE because I got a low AWA score and I hope to bring it up. I got good scores on Verbal and Quant so I am not focusing on those sections. I am worried that I may go down in those sections because I haven't been looking at them. Will most SLP grad schools take into account my highest scores on Verbal and Quant? Or will it hurt me if my scores drop when I retake it? Thank you!

Hello! I recently took the GRE and I got a 157 in Verbal and a 151 in Quant. My AWA score was pretty low with a 3.5. I also have a 4.0 undergrad GPA. I was wondering if it is worth retaking the GRE to improve my AWA score. I don't want to retake it, but if it will make or break my acceptances into schools for Speech I will. I just want some opinions. Thank you!

What schools is everyone waiting on? Interviewed, wait list, etc!!

Hi! So the past few months for me have filled with endless stress and self doubt about applying to grad school and my future in general. I only applied to two schools because I didn't have much confidence that I would get in anywhere and didn't want to waste the money just to be rejected. I got rejected from University of Rhode Island and am currently waitlisted at LIU Post, which I'm actually shocked I even got waitlisted to be completely honest. As hopeful as I am that I'll get excepted, I know I need to be realistic. I have a 3.3 GPA, but with the way my grades are looking this semester, it

Hi! So i have been super stressed during this whole application process. I only applied to 2 schools because i didn’t have much confidence i would get accepted anywhere and i didn’t want to spend a ton of money just to get rejected. I got rejected from one school and waitlisted at LIU Post. Even though I’m trying to stay hopeful about Post, i know my chances are pretty slim. I have a 3.3 GPA but the way my grades are this semester it’s probably going to be around a 3.2? Am i even being realistic about applying? My GRE scores, recs, and essay are all pretty average so i don’t even really have t

Hi guys! I was accepted to NYU's on-campus program for Fall 2018, and am very seriously considering it. I'm an out-of field applicant, though, and right now I'm missing 4 prerequisites. I'm wondering -- do any of you know how their online prerequisite system works? Like, what is the structure of those courses? And would I have access to those courses during this summer, prior to starting the on-campus program? Any information would be much appreciated!

Hi all! I am planning to start a CSD Master's program this fall, but I am missing several prerequisites. I'd like to do at least a couple of them this summer -- whatever I don't finish, I'll take alongside my master's. Do any of you have recommendations of where I could take these courses online this summer? *If you've done these courses online before, please tell me how heavy of a workload it was and what the cost was! These are the courses I'm missing: Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Swallow Mechanisms Introduction to Audiology a
