  1. I applied to CSUF, CSULA, CSUSB and CSULB for the MSW program for fall 2019. I sent in my applications right before the priority deadline ended. CSUSB and CSULB have my application under review for the program. Has anyone heard back from any of the schools mentioned for the MSW program? If you have, When did you send in your application? How did you send it in? How long did it take for them to get back to you? How did you get your acceptance or rejection? Thank you.
  2. I applied back in November to CSUF, CSUN, SDSU and CSUSM and I am trying to see if anyone has heard from these programs as far as admissions!? I’m going nuts checking my email and logins !
  3. Haven't heard anything from any LA/OC County Cal States (CSUF, CSULA, CSULB, CSUN) so I thought I'd start this in case anyone has heard/hears anything.
  4. Hi everyone! I recently got accepted to CSUF, CSULB, Biola, CBU, and Portland State. I’m having a hard time deciding which school would be the best for me, and I’m looking for current graduate students to share their experience and give their honest opinions about the programs they’re either currently in or have completed. Thanks!!
  5. Hi, I have a question. I've been reading the forums for a while and have read wonderful news about fellow potential social workers hearing of acceptance. I noticed many are receiving acceptances but are still waiting for more. Because of deadlines, I imagine that some are agreeing to the acceptance and paying the deposits such as intent to enroll but are still waiting for the other schools' decisions before making a true decision on where to attend. So my question is, are you allowed to agree to one acceptance and then change your mind if you find that another is best suited for you? Are there any ramifications other than losing out the deposit? I graduated from CSUF in Spring of 2018. I hope to return to school Fall of 2019. I applied to CSUSM, CSULB, and CSUF for their 2 year MSW programs. I would prefer CSULB and CSUF as the distance would be far better for me financially. I can only attend CSUSM if I am accepted by CALSWEC otherwise I would have no other way to pay for it. I can attend the other two schools on a Veteran Dependent program but not CSUSM so that's why I would need CALSWEC. I was offered conditional admission (they need official transcripts regarding Stat course) and have ONLY 2 weeks to confirm and pay the intent to enroll fee in order to reserve my seat in the program. I know they use the wording "reserve" as the universities understand that life happens and changes are made. I will be accepting the program but feel slightly frustrated as I know that CALSWEC will not reply until the end of March as stated in their emails. The CALSWEC program replies at the end of March and the interviews are the 3rd and 4th of April so everything (meaning my financial ability to pay and attend for the next two years) would be contingent on the interview going well and being accepted into the CALSWEC program. I am still waiting to hear from CSULB and CSUF and I understand that their invitation to interview does not mean automatic acceptance. Mainly, I am feeling anxious due to confirming my seat at CSUSM while not having a way to pay for it and I won't know until, best case scenario, Mid-April in hearing from CALSWEC. All while, waiting for an invitation to interview at CSULB or CSUF and then waiting 1 to 3 weeks after completing the interview to hear good or bad news. Logically, I understand that reserving seats are common and the students and schools are both accustomed to people changing their mind, yet I can help but feel guilty of not being able to make a firm decision yet for fellow applicants and potential social workers and worried that the schools won't allow you to accept their offer if you already reserved your spot for another. Has anyone ever accepted one university offer only to change your mind for a better-suited program and NOT receive negative ramifications other than losing out on a bit of money from the deposit? Did you lose out on a better-suited school because you reserved your spot and the CSU schools found out and removed their offers because of this? Sorry for the long message. Any information would be VERY helpful. 😊
  6. Hi everyone, I'm currently an SLP undergraduate at a local CSU. I'm interested in applying to graduate school in California but want to know what experience, test scores, GPA, etc I should have to remain competitive. Has anyone gotten accepted to the CSUF, CSULB, or Chapman SLP Grad program? If so, what were your stats related to scores/gpa/experience? Any advice as well?
  7. Hello Everyone, I wanted to create a place for people to collectively panic about admissions. Compare stats and say if you were admitted or not. So have at it!

    MSW CSU 2018

Hi Guys! So it’s about that time! Schools are sending out their acceptance/decline letters. Let this be a place where you can share which CSUs you applied, which ones you’ve heard from and have yet to hear from. If you got invited for an interview please share some tips for those who haven’t had theirs yet. Let’s support each other and possibly meet people who will be in your program in the fall! My name is Selene and I applied to the extended programs for CSUF CSULA and CSUDH. I got accepted to CSULA and CSUDH but have yet to hear anything from CSUF.
  9. I know there's been a few posts about this already, but couldn't find any recent ones. Any current/past students that can give any insights on either school? Thanks!
  10. Is it worth it to take 2-4 courses in the summer to try to finish the program earlier? It's crazy expensive and wondering if taking summer school affects the cost of tuition in anyway. Do they deduct the courses (is tuition by semester or courses)? Will I be paying the same amount in the end? Not sure when applications for MS/MA programs start and how it would affect that? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  11. Has anyone heard from Fresno State? I'm still waiting to know if I have been accepted or not.
  12. I got accepted into the CSD grad programs at both CSUF and Chapman and need help deciding between the two. The only posts I've seen so far that compare CSUF and Chapman have been about the post-bacc programs. I am inquiring about the Masters Programs between the two. Pros and cons of each school? Any insights would be much appreciated. Thank you!
  13. Hey guys! Starting this forum to see if there is anyone who has not heard back from CSUF?? I submitted my application Dec/Jan and have not heard back. My concentration is Child Welfare, I also applied for the CalSwec. I've heard/seen a bunch of students get their interview date and I'm going just about crazy checking my email 20x/ day lol. Anyone else haven't heard? If so, what concentration did you apply for? Oh & my application status says something about being sent to the board for review.
  14. Hey guys, I received an invitation this morning for an interview at Cal State Fullerton next week and I just wanted to know some of the questions that they ask so I can prepare! Anything helps!! Thank you
  15. I was wondering if anyone who is currently or finished a MSW Advanced Standing Program could give me any feedback. I will be applying to a MSW program this Fall and I'm looking into advanced standing programs. If anyone could tell me their stats(gpa,volunteering/work), if they felt the program was too fast, can you still apply for CALSWEC in the one yr program, were you able to work at all? If you weren't able to work then how did you pay for bills/housing. Also, did you have to take out any loans.
  16. I'm having a hard time figuring out how long the graduate programs are at the schools I'm applying to. The websites don't explicitly say! Can anyone tell me? Fullerton - I've heard they have a new 2 year program in addition to a longer one? Northridge - grad cafe posts have said 2-2.5 years? Long beach - their website does say it typically takes 2.5-3 years. what determines this? is it possible to be done in 2 years? Thanks for any info!
  17. Hi everyone! I'm wondering if anyone has had any updates on their application status? I submitted my application for the Flex program on 1/19/17. I called yesterday to ask what the notification process is like and a woman in the MSW Dept. told me that they "don't know" and that some years it takes a month and some years it takes three months. She did say that the next step would be to get called for an interview. My Application Status still says "Thank you for applying to Cal State Fullerton. We have received your application. No admission decision has been made at this time" Has anyone (2-year or Flex) heard anything or heard anything different than what she mentioned? Let me know!
  18. I am currently applying to CSUF for the postbac program they have because I am a non CD major but recently finished my bachelor's degree in business. I finished the CSU Mentor application portion already and sent in my transcripts, I just have one last question about the CBEST my day to take the exam is next Tuesday and I am hoping I pass all the sections but am not sure if I will have enough time to send in the results by the Feb 1st deadline or if the CBEST results do not have to be sent in by that date. There is no one on their side that is able to answer my questions and I have tried calling I am worried my application will not be considered if the CBEST results are not sent in time. Hopefully someone knows more information about this.
  19. Hi everyone! I am a recent graduate from CSULB. I am applying to a MSW program for Fall 2017, but I am lost in my journey. I have a few questions for anyone who can answer them.I am considering applying to CSULB, CSUF and CSULA. I will be paying for school all on my own and I still have undergrad loans so I am looking for something affordable but a good school. What is the cost for the MSW program at each school? What are current students paying? What time are classes? I've heard they are later in the evening I know that experience is important so what kind of experience did you have when you got accepted? I dont have any background in social work and I feel that my experience isnt up to par so I am nervous about my chances getting into any of these schools. Stats: Major: Sociology GPA: 3.4 5 Month internship working with foster youth 3 years working with at risk children under 18
  20. I just received an offer from CSUF which included a TA position, but it seems as though I'd still have to pay tuition. I've heard not to accept an offer if the tuition isn't covered, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows if tuition is ever covered at CSU schools?
  21. Hello, I've been really busy on the college confidential site for getting accepted at my university of choice after finishing work at my community college, and thanks in large part to that community and the information we all shared with each other, I got in. So I will be starting this fall at the University of California Irvine as a Psychology and Social Behavior major. I am also pursuing a seperate AS degree in Alcohol and Drug studies, it's the curriculum needed to become a certified substance abuse counselor. My long term goal is to work as an LCSW, but really focus on conducting therapy, at least for as long as I enjoy it. I like the flexibility of the MSW route compared to going for an MFT or LPCC. Now I have been told by professors that I need to be applying for grad school in about 1 year, and if possible I want to be preparing for that over the course of this year ahead so that when it is time I'm ready. I'm looking at USC, UCLA, CSULB, and CSUF as possible schools to apply to right now, so any advice on what I should be doing to be better prepared, insight into the quality of those schools, or what is really required of an applicant to have a shot at getting in to any of those schools would be very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to help me out, and for as long as I am in the process of applying and working towards grad school I will stick around this community and try to help those who come after me.
  22. Hi all! I hadn't seen a thread started for Cal State Fullerton MSW 2016 applicants, so I thought I'd create one! This is the only school I applied to this year, as it's affordable and closest to where I live. I applied to the 2-year full-time program with a concentration in child welfare! Comment here when you hear back!
  23. Hey all! I applied to the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Ed programs at CSUF and UNLV. DId anyone else apply to these programs? UNLV was due 02/01/16, and I haven't heard back. CSUF was due 03/01/16, and I haven't heard from them either. I'm dying in purgatory waiting! I'm nervous that I haven't been accepted because I haven't heard from either yet. Is anyone else in the same boat?
  24. Hi Everyone, I wanted to see if anyone had information on the Master's Program at Cal State Fullerton? thanks!
