  2. Hey guys, I received full funded offer from UC3M and offer from EME(1y). I'm also waiting for Duke, Tufts, Ut austin, RoME-EIEF, Cemfi, Tinbergen and etc. I really took the convenience of transfering to Ph.D. with only passing the qualifying test in UC3M a great advantage(also has to achieve 7+for each course in grade 1 and average 7+for 2 years Mphil period). But I have to admit that my math is not solid, I have not took real analysis course and applied directly as a Chinese undergraduate. Since the qualification test happened in first year, I am afraid that without a foundation in real analysis, I can not survive. I can take hard work but if it is so hard perhaps I should wait for other pure master program like RoME-EIEF,Tufts, Ut austin. Does anyone know 1st year Ph.D. student who has similar weak math background? What about their performance?

I am planning to take up online econ/math courses ( real analysis, measure theory) and R/ Stata courses as well. Which kind of certifications will be considered by admissions committee ( any course certification from US univs?) Can someone specify some certification courses covering the above topics which can compensate for the lacking in maths/econ courses?I do know I like research , but till now most people have suggested me to go for a Masters rather than a Phd. is there any hope for me to get into a PhD econ program with this profile?Kindly suggest some schools I can apply to for both Phd & Masters in econ/ Financial economics where I might have a chance!Thank You!
  4. Is it wise to submit a low GRE score(310, 157Q) if the University made it optional? How does submitting it or not submitting it affect my application?
  5. I'm finishing my final semester at college from a pretty good university (top 30 for undergrad). I would eventually like to apply to grad school for a PhD in Economics (perhaps Fall 2021 or Fall 2022) and I wanted to know if anyone has any advice for what I could do in the meantime. I was pretty late to the game, and am only now looking for jobs. I'm not really sure what kind of jobs to apply to, or what to expect, really, given the pandemic, etc. I'm also considering applying to an online Masters in Statistics simultaneously but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Below is a rough overview of my profile. Mathematics and Economics Double Major. Statistics Minor. Cumulative GPA: 3.67 | Economics GPA: 3.97 | Mathematics GPA: 3.65 Undergrad Teaching Assistant for 2 years Honors Thesis in Economics: Graduating with High Honors, and trying to get it published I have really good relationships with a number of my professors from the Economics and Statistics departments, but I haven't asked for any letters of recommendation yet because I'm not sure what I'll be doing in the next year. I am yet to take the GRE. I'd really appreciate any advice on what would be a good use of time/ what I should focus on now to eventually get into a good program. Thank you!
  6. Hi all, Thanks in advance for helping me out. I am science graduate and hold masters in Mathematics and Economics. An online micro masters in data, economics and developmental policy. I am a trained big data analyst with 1yr of experience in Business Analytics at reputed analytics firm and 2 yr of experience in data based policy analysis with International research institute (International Water Management Institute) as a pre-doctoral fellow. I wish to do PhD from top 20 grad school in US in subject related to deveopmenral economics and public policy. On qualification side. I have GRE score 169/155/3.0 (Q, V, AW) Apart from this I have 1 paper under review for international journal, 1 Book chapter under preparation, 2 papers accepted for an international conference and 2 papers presented for international conference. Have strong recommenders. Most of research work is around policy impact analysis. It will be great if anyone can help me with following things.... 1) Shall I repeat GRE with more preparation or the score is good enough? How important is AW score?? 2) Where can I get help for good SOP? 3) Good University/Departments for PhD in developmental economics or public policy analysis that I shall consider 4) Is my profile considerable for top 10 US universities or shall I downgrade my choices?? I would appreciate any help in this regards... Thanks again
