santy1430 posted a topic in Decisions, DecisionsWhich of these two schools would be suitable for embedded systems? My interests are in embedded software development and system design. My end goal is to enter the industry asap since I already have relevant work experience as an embedded software developer. Please clarify in terms of courses, financial assistance opportunities and job opportunities . I'm confused and finding it difficult to choose.Need a different pov/opinion/guidance. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

santy1430 posted a question in Questions and AnswersSo which of the two is better? MS ECE in NCSU vs MEng ECE Virginia Tech. I chose these mainly for embedded systems, but in a dilemma now. Course wise NCSU is spread out while Virginia tech is specific to certain areas but both are good in heir own way. Please suggest tips on how to proceed or suggest which school to choose. It would also great if someone told about each of the programs at these schools in general.
What's the best way to process image and video right from a CMOS sensor? COMPUTER SCIENTISTS, I NEED HELP!
Caio Macedo posted a topic in Computer ScienceI love to understand computation deeply, right from the CPU architecture, and I am having some problems with an embedded camera. I don't know what's the best way to do it, I know that microcontrollers aren't the best option, because they can't deal with all that data (4k/ 8k / 1080p 60fps - high resolution images) I know that the first circuitry that connects to the silicon sensor chip are specific driver chips to provide clock and send the data from all the matrices of pixels via parallel, so I've been reading a lot about Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and Digital Signal Controller (DSC), but I don't know how to connect the sensor, don't know if I only interface it with the DSP and send the data via USB/HDMI and process it in my computer (just another motherboard) with LibUsb, openCV and some graphics library in c; or interface the sensor, DSP and external ROM memory; even thought about interfacing external CPU (intel) proper RAM and ROM and then, interface the DSP and sensor, so that I can create a autonomous robot that process live video from the camera with algorithms created by me, and I don't worry about writing programs in assembly (if this is your solution).
I have an undergrad degree in electronics and 3 years of work experience as a UI developer. I had applied for Masters in Computer Engineering last years, and didn't make it to any school, possibly because I applied very late. This year I am planning to apply for HCI programs. If I am applying to the same colleges this time, should I explain why I made the switch? Any pointers on how to go about explaining this?
