  1. Hi all, I just completed my application and interview for the May 2020 Speech@Emerson cohort last week. My advisor told me the turnaround time for a decision would be 3-8 weeks, however since I applied so early, it may be sooner. I'm excited because my advisor said the interview went well and everything I've submitted has looked good, but I'm a little worried because my undergrad GPA wasn't amazing. I graduated with a 3.1 cumulative, and my GRE scores were fairly average (I don't remember them off the top of my head ). I'm hoping my personal statement and interview will push the decision in my favor. Has anyone else received a decision yet? I would love to hear everyone else's experiences so far!
  2. Hello! Has anyone interviewed with Emerson for their online program? Was it difficult at all? Any info would help! In an email from my advisor, she indicated I had to schedule one when I'm ready. Super nervous Thanks!
  3. I got accepted to NYU and Emerson's online SLP programs recently but both are very expensive. Also, Emerson's program has clinical placements starting very soon (I work) and I'd have to take a pre-requisite that would put me back another $4k. I only applied to these two schools because I didn't have the GRE/letters of rec figured out before the CSDCAS deadline. I was banking on financial aid to help me since I'm now considered an independent and got an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $0. I submitted it sorta late, like mid April and added the two schools last week. I already have ~$60k of debt and don't want to go into any more. I have decent stats; 151V, 149Q, 4.5W 3.84 cumulative, 3.75 department GPA and lots of experience with research/ABA. Should I pick NYU/Emerson or should I reapply next year, pay off some loans and then choose?
  4. I recently got admitted to both Speech@NYU and Speech@Emerson and I'm most concerned about the tuition (Emerson- $67k, NYU- $82k). Do you know if they offer financial aid/scholarships/grants? I have an estimated family contribution (EFC) of 0000, so I'm hoping that they might offer me some sort of aid. My stats are: 156V, 151Q, 4.5W
  5. Hi everyone! Does anyone have any insight into any of these schools specifically for their CSD programs? I am an out of field applicant and still need to complete most of the prereqs. I know TC and Emerson both have summer programs to complete them. I most likely want to work in a school, early intervention, or a private practice with kids. All of these schools would end up being about the same cost, with Emerson a bit cheaper but not by much. Let me know if you have any insights, or just if you've been accepted and may be attending 😊 I'm so excited to meet everyone!
  6. Are the diplomas that you receive any different than the on-campus diplomas?
  7. Hi, I've applied for Emerson Film and Media Art MFA program and hasn't gotten any updates. I checked the portal too but still nothing.. Did anyone get any updates? I don't even know when they're gonna make the decision approximately.
  8. Hey guys! So Emerson is the only school I got into so I’ll definitely be attending (and I’m thrilled, it was my top choice) but I’m having trouble finding the exact tuition online. Does anyone know how much the program will cost in total? Thanks! And let me know if you’re going to Emerson too!! ?
  9. Hi everyone!!! So, I need advice... Please I have been accepted to 5 schools, waitlisted at 2 and rejected at 2 for M.A/ M.S programs in SLP. I made my decision to attend University of Colorado- Boulder at the end of March and sent in my deposit, however, yesterday I found out I was accepted off of Emerson's waitlist!! Now I have to try to decide between the two schools. Can anyone give me any advice, pros and cons?? Both areas are totally opposite of each other! I visited both schools, Boulder for the open house and Emerson after the interview. I really thought I was set on Boulder, but now with Emerson I am completely torn! Each schools have their pros and cons but with my anxiety I am nervous I will make the wrong decision and that it will "haunt me". I am from NJ so it is a complete change going to Colorado... Boston is also different because I am not used to the city. It's basically between mountains or city life! I, personally, see myself working with the rehabilitation side of things when it comes to after grad school, however, I won't really know until I am in grad school. Also, does anyone know about the process of pulling out my spot at Boulder, if I decide to attend Emerson? Did no think I would have this much of an issue! Any advice is greatly appreciated! And congrats to all who have been accepted!
  10. Hello, I would like this to be a forum for you as an applicant, current student, or alumni of any Boston speech-language pathology programs to post your insight, experience, knowledge or advice comparing the schools. I know I am not the only one who applied to more than one school in the Boston area so I would like help on choosing which one to attend! (I have been accepted to MGH and Northeastern) but this can be for all 4 programs! Some questions include.. Why did you choose X program What kind of training / orientation is there prior to beginning clinic? How are clients paired with students? Do we decide on clinical placement site? Surviving without car? How are classes/workload? challenging but possible? Work life balance? Can you still enjoy boston? Describe typical day?? Do you feel comfortable with supervisors? Asking for help? Classmate interaction?
  11. I'll be moving from Montana to Massachusetts for grad school, and I'm trying to navigate the ins and outs of the health insurance scene. Is it possible to enroll through the Massachusetts Health Connector website and get coverage before I am physically in Massachusetts (so that I can make sure I have documentation in time to file the waiver paperwork with the university)? Also, the fees for the three schools I am considering are as follows (each for one full year): Northeastern: $2,159 Emerson: $2,795 Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions: $5,925 Is it just me, or is the fee at MGHIHP exorbitant? I even had someone else look at the website to make sure I was reading it properly. I have this fear of messing up the waiver process and getting stuck paying for their plan...yikes!!! I would welcome any advice about how best to handle this! Thank you!
  12. I have been accepted to MA programs in theater education at both Emerson and NYU Steinhardt and I am very torn about which to commit to. Can anyone speak to the quality of the courses/professors and the job opportunities in k-12 education available after graduating at either or both schools? I am happy living in either NY or Boston so I don't need any info about the cities they are in. Thanks so much!
  13. Has anybody been notified yet? I remember last year I was notified around the 9th and their website says "during the first week of February" so the anxiety is setting in a little bit haha
