  1. Hi all! I've been looking for a thread relating to gender/women's studies phd program applications and haven't found any for 2021's application cycle. I'm sure this week and the next few weeks will be full of anxiety for many of us but I hope this thread will help us connect with each other to feel a little bit better. I'm waiting to hear back from Arizona State myself. Best of luck to everyone!
  2. Hello! [I posted this on interdisciplinary studies but didn't get responses so figured I'd try here as well. (-:] I graduated college last year and am looking to apply to PhD programs in Women's/Gender/Feminist studies and enroll starting in Fall of 2022––it seems like a ways away, but this is the soonest I can go if I apply in the next admission cycle, for which apps are due in Dec./Jan. Here's my question: Which universities would people recommend I apply to? I've been surprised by how many major institutions do not offer PhDs in Women's/Gender/Feminist studies. Some of the places I'm considering applying to are Indiana University Bloomington, Rutgers, University of Washington, University of Arizona, University of Michigan, Emory, University of Maryland, UCSB, and Ohio State University. I'd love to learn what other universities people know of that offer PhDs in Women's/Gender/Feminist studies! And if people have opinions/thoughts about particular universities, I'd be glad to hear them. Also, which universities are considered most prestigious? (This won't necessarily dictate where I apply, lol, I'm just trying to get a better feel for the world of graduate Women's/Gender/Feminist studies.) In case you need more info... I'm not at all picky in terms of location, though I would like to be in the U.S. On a (very) broad level, my primary interests are 1) how feminism/gender intersects with popular culture, media and fandom, especially in the music industry as well as on YouTube; and 2) public policy and using legislation to mitigate/fix systemic inequities and injustice Thank you!

PS - This is my first post in this site; I hope I did everything correctly!
  4. Hi there! I am applying for fall 2021 and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good master’s programs where the professors and the classes have knowledge around Social Justice Art. I mainly want to concentrate on the intersection of art and social movements. I know NYU And UPenn has some pretty good professors for that but I was just wondering of more. Anything to do with Queer and Feminist Theory, as well as Latinx art. Thanks for your help and let me know if you need any more info this is my first time posting.
  5. Hello! This might seem really early but I'm working on my grad school applications for entry next year and wanted to see if anyone else is doing the same? So far my Gender/Women's Studies options are: Emory University of Maryland University of Wisconsin-Madison (sociology) Indiana University-Bloomington University of York (UK) University of Sussex (UK) (Possibly) University of Arizona (Possibly) Western University in Canada My research interests are around embodiment, reproductive health, contraception, phenomenology, agency, contraceptives as icon/symbol of femininity - all the fun stuff! I work in development/SRHR overseas now and already have my MSc, but still not sure what my chances will be! Is anyone applying to U of Az or Western that could talk about what appeals? The course at Western would be amazing for me but I hear that London Ontario is a terrible place to live ... Also, what's a good number to apply to? The UK university applications aren't due for a while so focusing on those in the US/Canada for now! Looking forward to hearing from others! Ams
  6. Hello! I thought I would start a thread for women's/feminist/gender studies applicants for fall 2017 to share stories, provide support, etc! I am so nervous... I have applied to four phd programs: emory, ucsc, ucla, and stonybrook, and 3 american studies phd programs: yale, harvard, and nyu. I really want to get in somewhere!! This application process has been so stressful, I'd hate to have to do it again. Where are y'all applying? How has the application process been for you?
  7. Hi all~~ I am recently preparing for my application to the PhD programmes in the U.S. I wanna wok on women and workplace justice. I want to explore opportunities from the feminist / women's studies departments in the US universities. So far I have looked into the one in UCSB, U of Washington, and U of Michigan. I am a little bit lost when I try to shortlist and find all these feminist departments. May I ask if any of you can provide me some insights as to which feminist departments I should also explore? Thanks very much!!
