  1. Hey y'all. Worried about my chances of acceptance into philosophy MA programs. As of right now, I know I am for sure applying to San Francisco State, California State Los Angeles, London School of Economics (MSc in Philosophy & Public Policy/Philosophy of the Social Sciences), Wayne State University (I'm already accepted into the AGRADE program there, so this is my backup), and the University of Missouri St. Louis. Possibly also applying to Georgia State University and Northern Illinois University (depending on if I can take the GRE in time). Here are my stats: GPA: 3.75 Philosophy GPA: 3.73 Treasurer of a political activist group on campus. Also involved in a volunteer group dedicated to teaching elementary students philosophy. No papers in conferences. Two letters of recommendation very familiar with my work and enthusiastic about writing the letters. One of the professors has friends in the faculty of a couple programs I'm applying to. Hoping that will help. No GRE scores. This may theoretically be a problem for University of Missouri St. Louis (recommended but not required), but for SFSU, Cal State LA, LSE, and WSU, they do not ask for GRE scores at all. Doing my writing sample on how to legally classify trans folk to ensure that insurance companies cannot deny them access to resources such as hormones, gender therapy, and surgical procedures without resorting to the medicalization of trans bodies. My interests are primarily in political philosophy, legal philosophy, ethics, and metaphysics. What do you think are my chances of acceptance? The dream would be to eventually work on a PhD at LSE or CUNY Graduate Center. I'm also very interested in the PhD programs at Michigan State, Penn State, University of Oregon, and DePaul. For schools like MSU, Penn State, and Oregon, is it really necessary for me to stress where I'm getting my masters at?
  2. Need help deciding. Research from both interest me. Post graduation job opportunities and overall reputation are the two factors I'm considering. Please suggest, thanks!
  3. I submitted my application back at the early deadline and it was confirmed that all of my supporting materials and fees had come in a couple of weeks later, but I still haven’t heard anything? I applied to the gerontology concentration and they told me it’d only be about 2 to 3 weeks to hear back about a decision, but my admissions status is still listed as pending. I’ve tried to get in contact with someone to no avail lol. So it’d be nice to hear about how long you had to wait! Also, if you have estimates for how long it took to hear back from Georgia State, that’s good too!
  4. Hi!! I'm going to be interviewing at GA State tomorrow, and I wanted to know if anyone has any experience/insight into their interview process. Do they interview all potential applicants? What sorts of questions do they ask? What are some good questions to ask them? If you're a current GSU student, would you recommend the program? How is it different than others? Thanks!
  5. Hi everyone! I'm just about done applying to graduate schools in speech language pathology and now it's all about waiting...To all of you who are on the same boat as me, best of luck to all of us! Anyway, Georgia State University is the first school I applied to and I heard back from them to come in for an interview (yay!!!). I wanted to see if anyone can offer some tips and information about the interview, what kind of questions I should be prepared for, and generally what to expect in regards to the interview day. Any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!!
  6. Hello. I'm an applicant, and I just have a few questions about the wait list process/ odds at the following schools seeing that there is an April 15th deadline for applicants to accept/ decline. Thanks in advance. 1) Is anyone on the wait list at the following schools? *Georgia State University * University of West Georgia *University of Georgia 2) When do you think applicants will hear back ( I know there's the "After April 15th" memo, but does that mean around the ending of April, May, June, ,etc? Lol ? 3) Is there anyone who was accepted to these programs but decided to decline? 4) Also, what are the odds of being accepted off of the wait list?
  7. Hi! Just reaching out to meet other people who got accepted to Georgia State's CMSD grad program. Anyone know if a facebook page has been set up yet?
  8. Hi, Has anyone received a phone call from Georgia State regarding interviews? I was browsing through old threads and I saw where they usually send out phone calls and emails around this time.
