  1. To go through a research experience, at fields and institutes entirely different than that of your bachelor degree and school, is mentally challenging task. Would love to hear from folks who have something to share with the ones who lately graduated, and aspiring to be well-versed in disciplines they get graduated vs disciplines they are doing in-depth research.
  2. I got this really troubling email from csdcas and I’m not really sure what it means. Can someone explain this to me? Does this ruin my chances of getting in? A lot of my deadlines were by the 15th of January. I got this email just now so there’s nothing I can do about it until tomorrow, but I definitely plan on calling them tomorrow and sending out another transcript immediately.
  3. Hello everyone! I am slightly freaking out because I waited to get my official transcripts sent to CSDCAS from my university. I have a graduate school app due tomorrow, and I submitted everything. My CSDCAS application needs to be verified. I am nervous that this will inhibit me from applying to grad schools and not having my application looked at. It said it'll take up to 4 weeks, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with how fast this process takes and if it prevents me from meeting the application deadlines of specific graduate schools? Thanks for your input, I am nervous as to what'll happen since many of my schools have January deadlines and this is not at 4 weeks maximum from sending my transcripts in.
  4. So I just got back my official GRE scores, and I'm a little unsure of whether or not I'm content with them. I received a 147 on Q, 157 on V, and a 5.0 on AW. I was wondering, do you think these warrant a retake? I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I'm unsure of whether or not I want to retake solely for the purpose of raising my quantitative score. In addition to these, I have a 3.91 SLP major GPA, and a 3.94 overall GPA, lots of volunteer service in a school settings, volunteer service in a stroke clinic working with grad students, involvement in extracurriculars and e-board positions on various clubs, including NSSLHA, and shadows with an early intervention SLP and an inpatient rehab SLP. My top school is Southern CT State University. But I'm also interested in Uconn, Iowa State, SCSU. Really I'm just looking for some reassurance. I'm a bit stressed with the application process for grad school! Would really appreciate some extra input on my scores. Thank you
  5. Hi Guys, It's almost April and I still haven't heard back from 10 schools regarding my PhD application for Fall 2016 (Biomedical Engineering). Deadlines were ranging from Dec 15th-Feb 1st (depending on the school). There is one school that interviewed me in late January, then sent me an email telling me that they selected me as a potential candidate for admissions and that the deadline is April 15th, and they asked me to tell them if I accept other offers. I still haven't heard a single thing to date. I have seen many applicants sharing their decisions results via here, but I haven't seen anything posted from many of the schools that I have applied to. Is that normal? I am starting to get worried and assuming that I have been rejected ....
  6. Hi all, I am applying for the 2012 September admission, and I am having trouble preparing my writing sample. I'm applying for comparative politics department and the subjects I want to study in the Phd program is not really offered in the undergrad school I am going to right now. So although I have a ok-quality term paper, I don't have anything that is related to what I want to study that I mention in my SOP. (actually I have one but it is more of an undergrad essay, without much data). So the question is, do you thing it would be okay for me to submit something that is in the comparative politics subfield but not really related to my statement of purpose? It is rather difficult for me to prepare something solid within several months, and it is more difficult considering that there is actually no professors or academic courses that offer anything related to what I want to study (within the comparative politics subfield in my current undergrad school). Comments would really help
