  1. I got an admission offer on April 15. Before I received the offer, I got a mail from the program coordinator; " While the decisions for admissions have not been completed, I wanted to see if you were interested in applying for a graduate assistantship. If you are interested, please complete the attached application for GA and submit the completed form by Wednesday, April 13" But I didn't hear anything about funding after that. I sent inquire mail for two times to the program coordinator. No answer.. What should I do?
  2. Hello everyone, I am currently facing a difficult decision as many of us are. I am choosing between two programs now . In one of the programs I already accepted 2 assistantships but I may be going for a separate institution. I was granted a scholarship that has put one of the schools back in the running. If I were to go for a different institution, how would I go about rejecting the assistantships if I built a small relationship with the people there?
  3. Hi all! I'm currently deciding between two schools - one in my ideal location and the other in a less than ideal location, but more ideal for my bank account. I'm leaning towards accepting a spot at the University of Utah but I have some questions about tuition and graduate assistantships that I haven't been able to find answers to online. Are there any current graduate students at U of U that can provide some answers? Does U of U offer a lot of GA positions? Are they full/half/quarter semester positions? How much is tuition really - I've been seeing various numbers? Thanks!
  4. I was very excited to get into my 1st choice PhD Psychology program, and was under the assumption that I would be in a specific professor's research lab (I mentioned this many times throughout my interview, was personally interviewed by them, and my MA thesis/previous years of research experience was the exact same material as this lab). After confirming my acceptance, I was notified by this professor that this lab did not have funding for a new graduate student. I just received my assignment for my graduate assistantship, and the professors have no similarities with my research interests, as far as I can tell. Will my dissertation be advised by these professors? Or will I have a different dissertation supervisor? (The professor I was hoping to work with did offer to help me with my dissertation, but it is very unclear in what capacity). I am disappointed that I will not be involved in the research I was expecting (trying to be open minded to new experiences...). I will feel MUCH better if I am just working for these professors, and will be able to conduct the research that I am interested in. Can someone please explain to me how this might work? Or how it works at other schools? Thank you in advance!
