  1. Hello All, I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm posting this in the right area. I have an upcoming group interview for the M.S.ED in School Psychology at LIU. Does anyone have experience with group interviews for graduate school? What kind of questions are expected? Or is there a previous post with useful information? Thanks in advance!
  2. I'm posting about this literally just an hour before I'm supposed to be having a phone interview for the Hunter College msw application. It was scheduled only just yesterday, I got the email asking to pick a time and I let them know I would be needing a skype interview because I currently live in Chicago. They emailed back saying I would have to just have a phone interview and picked this time for today. I was really shocked because I thought they only did in-person and Skype group interviews and hadn't ever read anything here or anywhere else about phone interviews. I'm unsure if it's a solo or group interview, I also am unsure of how long it will last. Don't really know what to expect and just wanted to ask if anyone has ever had or heard of phone interviews from Hunter?
  3. Hi! I’ve heard Queens College conducts group interviews, although the woman I spoke to didn’t mention anything about it being in a group setting. Does anyone know if they are conducting group interviews this year? I’m extremely nervous as this is my top choice and first interview, does anyone have any preparation tips/insight on what I can expect?! Any advice is greatly appreciated
  4. Hey everyone just got an email inviting me to a group interview for MSW program. Soooo nervous anyone can help out with what to expect ? I saw a couple of posts but they are so dated wanted to see some recent experiences. Thanks so much!
  5. I am 95% sure that my group interview was a test.... I applied to the CSUS School Counseling program and was invited to an interview. I showed up for my interview and, surprise, there were 6 applicants interviewed simultaneously! None of us were told that this would be a group interview. This is apparently how the Department of Education conducts all of their interviews. What I really want to know is, was this a test? A social experiment? A chance for the interviewers to see how we interact in a group setting? There were NO truly substantive questions asked, NO opportunities for us to ask questions, and NO enforced time limits on responses (which led to what I would consider an unfair hogging of time by some of the applicants in the room). It was bizarre. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Thanks.
  6. Hi all, Thanks in advance for your suggestions... I'm applying to a few schools for upcoming Fall 2016, have interviews for 2 (other on rolling admissions)... and I have already decided from informal campus visits and researching the school's programs in depth that I only want to attend one school, and if I don't get accepted after this interview, I plan to take courses as a non-student, apply for research jobs, and re-apply next year. Basically I've fallen in love with this one particular program, it's location could not be more perfect, and the professors are interested in topics that I am hoping to do research in, particularly if I continue onto PhD. I'm seriously drooling over their curriculum and no other schools I've seen appeals to me quite like this one does. After attending an information session, my choice was cemented. So my question: I have just been invited to a group interview with my "dream school" (yay!) for their Masters program. If the question arises "Where else are you applying, and/or Why do you want to join our program?" Do I admit that if I don't get accepted this year I will simply apply next year after gaining more experience and taking courses with them, or does this sound desperate/not genuine/try hard? Even though I've applied to the other programs, I doubt I will be attending after learning more about the one I'm hoping will accept me. I have nothing to lose if I have to put off grad school for another year, and from speaking with grad admissions in the college I know that I can take up to 12 credit hours as a non-degree seeking student, and if accepted, those classes will count towards my degree. What do you all think... yay or nay? Thanks again for any insight, opinions, etc.
