  1. Hi Guys, Hope everyone is doing amazing !! I am sure this is probably not the right time to post my query when everyone seems to be grappled with the admissions. But I just wanted to throw my question in here so that you can just chime in whenever you find some time off from the hectic process and share your thoughts/opinions/suggestions. Anyway, my question pertains to the area international journals of IO psychology. Here it is... I am currently enrolled in a master's program here in the USA and therefore doing a thesis to partially fulfill the requirements of my master's degree. I will be defending my thesis next week or so and there is a very high likelihood that it would be approved without any recommendation for corrections by the committee. My thesis involves a meta-analysis which investigates the relation between job involvement and job performance in collectivist cultures, non-western societies. Since the thesis is based on the literature from collectivist cultures, it cannot be published in journals from north America. Therefore I am looking for some credible international journals which can publish my research. Not to mention that I have already googled it but could not find satisfactory results. Therefore, I thought to share my questions with you guys if you could share some insight. You're most welcome to share any kind of resources/thoughts/opinions/suggestions or comment which can aid me narrowing down my search for these journals. I thank you guys for your help in advance have a good one !!
  2. Hoping to get some responses from people who have experience with any MA/MS programs in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) psychology. I pored through nearly every existent page in SIOP and Neoacademic, but still have trouble deciding which programs are best for me. I am currently in NYC and would love to stay here (Columbia, NYU, Baruch, U of Albany SUNY), but I also hope to apply to 4-6 more schools and don't know which ones would give me the best experience. I am willing to move anywhere in the US if the school has good faculty and a strong program. I/O psychology MA/MS program rankings are basically nonexistent since it is still a relatively new field, so I would really appreciate hearing about any experiences in such programs. Thanks! - Tom
  3. Hi all, I've been accepted at U of T for their MIRHR program and at U of Waterloo in their masters/phd of I/O psych. some basics: I have 15k funding at Waterloo, nothing at U of T 2 years total length at U of T, minimum 6 at Waterloo My problem: I really liked the lab I interviewed at in Waterloo and think I'd be happy with the people, but I'm not totally sold on going into academia. Everyone there really emphasized the fact that they'll be training me to be a researcher with the assumption that I'll go into academia once I'm done. 6 years is a really long time to invest in something I'm not 100% sure on. I'm also from a big city and when I visited Waterloo I was struck by how EMPTY it was. I'm by no means a party animal, but there was really nothing to do/see/go to in the area. Plus I don't have a car so I'm told it'll be difficult to get around. As for Toronto, I'm really liking the fact that it's only 2 years with a chance to do a phd (if I want to) afterwards. Plus they have a good employment rate right out of the gate. However, I'm worried I'll be shooting myself in the foot if later on it turns out I WOULD like to go into academia. It is a big city though with good public transport (and around 3 hours closer to home) so it's got that going for it. Help? Any advice? I'd love to hear from people who did either of these programs.
  4. So I had this school in mind for a couple years until finally applying for this Fall. After doing my research on the school and their programs I was very impressed and they were always available when I had questions. I applied for the Masters for Fall 2016 and was accepted faster than I expected. So now I'm digging a bit deeper into the school's rep and I am finding things that raise great concern. It's disheartening to learn the school you were considering has a bad reputation. Just wondering if anyone else has any feedback in regards to the school (LA campus). Also, is APA accreditation something important to check for for I/O programs? I was told it is only necessary for the clinical programs. Thanks for your responses!
