Hello! Now that the application period has begun, just thought it'd be nice to chat and share in this thread:) I'm applying to U of T and McGill's Master in Information Studies, and Archival Studies at UBC. Got everything submitted in October and just waiting for the final result right now lol (a few months to go... I actually applied to these three uni last year and eventually got admitted by McGill but I didn't take the offer. Thought it might worth another try hahaha There were much more applicants last year than what the schools previously got. It's probably still early but hopefully there're others out there lol

Howdy! I have applied to the University of Texas MSIS (Master of Science in Information Studies) program for fall 2019 and, like many other grad applicants, am still constantly checking my Gmail for admissions results. After a quick email between myself and the School of Information, I've learned that results should hopefully come out TODAY! I'm hoping this will serve as a topic for other UT MSIS applicants to share their results or experiences. So, if you have good news, or even bad for that matter, please share!

Hi everyone! I just officially accepted my offer from the University of Ottawa in Information Studies a few minutes ago and I'm very excited I was wondering if anyone else on this website is also going to be a student in this program in the fall and would like to connect via Facebook group or something! Also, if any Ottawa residents have any recommendations for finding housing (other than checking kijiji and the student housing billboard), please post them here! Gotta find a place to live soon...

Hey everyone! I was accepted into my second choice school yesterday, UOttawa for a Master in Information Studies. I'm very excited! However, I'm still waiting on a response from McGill, which is my first choice, for the same program. I emailed them a while back to inquire about the status of my application and I was told they had already sent out their first round of admissions and will be sending out about 50 more mid-April, so I guess I'm on some kind of waitlist since I wasn't outright rejected - but Ottawa needs to me accept or decline their offer by April 14, and I don't know for sure whether or not McGill would have gotten back to me by then. My question is, should I ask UOttawa for an extension on the decision deadline, or should I email McGill and explain to them the situation, and see if they can assess my application a bit more quickly? I'm leaning towards the latter, but I figured it would be good to get some second opinions. Thank you guys!

I see no one has started a discussion about those who have applied to McGill's MISt program, so I'm taking it upon myself to do so! Mostly, I just don't wanna feel alone in this waiting process. Has anyone else applied for this program? I applied back in October and honestly I am not expecting to hear anything back soon since the deadline is April 1st.

Hi folks, I have applied to PhD programs in iSchools for fall 2012 and have heard good news from them. I am now facing problems as which one to choose. Any one here facing the similar issue? Any one studying in these schools? What factors would you put in priority when you want to do your PhD and are looking for a research career in a top research university or a company like IBM, Microsoft, etc.? How important ranking is? Ranking of the program or ranking of the school in general? I would really appreciate your inputs!
