  1. Hi guys! I’m committed to IU’s SLP 2021 cohort and I’m really excited. I’d love to start talking to some of the other people in the class! Has anyone made a Facebook group/GroupMe yet??
  2. No one seems to have started a thread for this year's IU folks yet, so let me be the one! I'll be starting my PhD in French/Francophone Studies this fall. I haven't actually visited the IU campus and have never even been to the midwest before. I've been living in California since I was ten and did both my undergrad and my master's less than two hours from home. Before that, I lived in Hawaii. Needless to say, the whole concept of having seasons is a bit foreign to me... Anyway, any other IU-bound people here? Which programs are you in, where are you guys from, and where are you guys
  3. Hi there! I have an offer from IU that I would be CRAZY not to accept. Thought this would be a great place to chat with others about the preparations for IU. Maybe even share tips and tricks relating to apartment hunting and other fun (stressful) activities. GO HOOSIERS!!
  4. I recently received an offer from Indiana University in Bloomington offering 90% tuition remission the first year. It is a three year program and I am in-state, so the tuition is lower than any of the other schools I applied to. I am just concerned about it being a three year program as well as a lack of clinical opportunities aside from geriatrics. Does anyone have any insight into the program including pros and cons? Is the reputation positive or negative? I have also been accepted into some top ranked schools including Vanderbilt, but I'm not sure if the cost is justified. Thank
  5. So, a little background first: My undergrad degree is in English, but I realized (after it was too late to change) that I'm actually interested in computer science and linguistics (thus Computational Linguistics). So, I'm going for a Master's degree in CL. My GPA is great and my GRE scores are pretty ok, but I'm applying to schools for a field I have zero background in. I've been accepted to Indiana University (Bloomington) and University of Colorado at Boulder. I haven't heard from Brandeis yet. I'm not getting funding from either, but I didn't really expect it, since I have no background
