  1. Since this program was mentioned in another thread, I thought I might as well seek some opinion on it, as I've been curious about it for a while. Does anyone have any experience with this program, either directly or indirectly? Is their quality of education comparable to top phil/CS/math master's programs in the US? I'm mostly interested in the intersection between their math and computation tracks. E.g. lambda calculus, functional specification of algorithms, etc.
  2. Not sure whether this is a sound question for the forum, but nevertheless: I am currently a junior at BU studying Math&Philosophy and since last year has been vehemently trying to do my best to prepare in any way to apply for the Pure and Applied Logic program at CMU. The problem is, even with e-mailing some of the students and faculty, a lot of the people don't have specific recommendations. If anybody is familiar with the program: what kind of training do they usually require from the applicants to get in? Would extremely appreciate advise from whomever applied there right from BA, since I do not think I can bear the financial burden.
  3. Hello everyone, I recently took a diagnostic GRE practice test and scored a 156 on verbal and 154 on quant. I was wondering what the likely hood of getting above a 165 on both sections would be. Have any of you been able to increase your score more than 10 points per section? I will be taking the GRE on October 7th. Thank you
  4. Hi! I'm new to the GradCafe and I'm not sure if this is where I should post this, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm currently studying for the GRE (taking it Aug 24th), and I wrote my first practice Issue and Argument Essays. I'm looking for someone to go over, critique, and score them. They are very rough, as this was my first go at it. I stuck to the 30 minute time limit. I would appreciate any feedback! Thank you! Mac Argument 1.docx Issue 1.docx
  5. I applied for Fall 2012, and it is one of my top two choices. I've checked the results from previous years, and it seems like they usually send out acceptances AND rejections by now... I know that there are about 4 applicants to this program each year (and at this point I've probably been rejected)...but if anyone has heard anything, please let me know!
