  1. Hello everyone, I've heard back from most programs I have applied to and have been given around one month to make final decisions. I'm an American-European dual citizen and have lived in Germany, France and the United States (and am fluent in those languages). I was admitted to 1) one-year program in Russian, East European and Eurasian studies at Stanford University without any funding. I'll get FAFSA and have another scholarship that will pay around ~10,000$. Pros: name recognition (!), small cohort (~5-7), very interesting classes and great professors, chance to learn more
  2. So I just got an email with the subject line “an update from the fletcher school” from Dan Birdsall at admissions. It was personalized (addressed to me by name with things he enjoyed reading about in my application). Did anyone else get this/know if there’s a history of these being sent out and what it could mean? Probably just a courtesy thing to applicants while we wait, but I’m curious! Thanks!
  3. So, Fletcher School at Tufts University has been my dream school for some time now. I got admitted into MALD and want to specialise in Development Economics but also take a few classes in Social Entreprenurship and International Political Economy. The flexibility of the MALD degree allows me to do that. I am particularly drawn to the cross registration option with Harvard and would love to take Social Entrepreneurship classes at Harvard Business School and also build some contacts. My problem is funding. I have received funding of $24k for two years (12k per year) from Fletcher. Still, th
  4. Hi Guys, Long (long) time lurker first-time poster here. Any input will go a long way in helping me decide which program is best suited to my personal situation. I am an Indian applicant looking to move to the US somewhat long-term . I am a lawyer by training and since graduating from law school I have worked as a policy professional for the past 3 years in not for profit thinktanks in India. My focus areas have been access to health, cybersecurity and judicial reforms, but I am sector and subject agnostic as I enter grad school. I have received admits from the following sch
  5. Hey guys haven't seen any Fletcher thread so started this one I applied on Nov.15h just in time for the deadline. Checking my email every day even though i know its too soon. Last Year i applied to NYU and BU while i was a college senior and got into their MA programs however there was no scholarship so i declined both the offer. Good Luck to all of you

  8. Hello all, I've been accepted to Tufts MALD, Georgetown GHD, Korbel MA in Intl Development, and GWU MA in Intl Development, which I have listed in order of my preference at the moment. Does anyone have any insider information on any of these programs, esp regarding job placement and networking? I am strongly leaning toward the MALD program at Tufts at this point, but perhaps you could convince me otherwise. Thank you!
  9. Hello fantastic community! I am an international student, trying to find out what are the top 10-top 30 MPA / MIA programs in the US. I am aware of the very well known ones such as Harvard's Kennedy School & recently I came to know about Woodrow Wilson School and Chicago Harris, as well as Tufts' Fletcher School and Columbia's SIPA. But to be frank I think I may not be competitive for such top schools, so I want to know what other schools are there. If any kind soul can point me to a ranking or a list of such schools, that would be greatly appreciated. My post graduation goal is
  10. Hello, would appreciate thoughts regarding graduate school decisions/comments from people in the same boat. Interested in the Middle East, development, and human rights. I have State Dept. experience and did some volunteer NGO work in Lebanon. Accepted to: Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey - International Policy and Development MA program ($14k fellowship over 2 years) George Washington University - Middle East Studies MA program, concentration in International Affairs and Development ($5k/year fellowship) - waiting on another fellowship that would fully
  11. Hi everyone! I submitted my application for the Fletcher MALD program by the early notification deadline and heard back from them recently. They've said that they will hold my application and review it relative to the applications they receive by the regular deadline. Can someone tell me what the chances are of being admitted if your application is reviewed a second time? Thanks in advance.
  12. Hello everyone, I would like to hear your opinions on which school would better suit my interests and background. I think I have a pretty good profile. I am an international lawyer, with 3 years of work experience with UNHCR, currently accepted a position to work in the Mediterranean crisis in Greece. I have an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from my country, and an LLM at a relatively known and respected US school in the international law field. I also did an internship at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague. I speak spanish, portuguese, a bit of french and

  15. Hello, I am planning on applying to the MALD program at Fletcher school. I do not have full time work experience, but I do have the experience of working on a couple research papers of international relevance, working for a year at an NGO founded by Gandhi (teaching members of the organization English and conducting skill building workshops for destitute women). I have also interned for a year at a private wealth management firm and at Goldman Sachs during the summer. I additionally worked under a government official to help him conduct a study on the impact of a government subsidy scheme
  16. Hi there, Just thought I'd start a thread on Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy too as there be blogs for all the other big IR schools. I got accepted with EN deadline (very excited!!) but havent received any news on funding. Has anybody heard back from Fletcher on the funding they provide? I had also got into SIPA but received no $$$...hoping it isnt the same case with Fletcher, cuz Fletcher really was my top choice! Good luck for those who are waiting to hear!
  17. Hey Guys, What a wonderful time to be alive! Yet there are many decisions to be made! I have been offered admission by three MA programs: SAIS Washington DC; Fletcher; American University; Georgetown's Security Studies program—though I will hear from them next week, I feel it is in the bag. My predicament is the following. I am a non-American student whose main areas of interest are international relations and international security. I want to devote my life to academia (preferably

  19. For those of us with this specific set of options, this would be a great place to lay out the pros and cons of these three institutions. Everyone seems to have opinions on the relative "cachet" of each name, the closeness of each community, the opportunities of the metro areas, etc., but it's safe to say they're all great schools, and I'd feel lucky to study at any of them. I'll be concentrating on international trade policy, seeking employment in gov't or business. Regions of interest : Latin America, East/Southeast Asia. I've been admitted for the MALD, ElSIA MA, and MSFS--just
