I've applied to Stony Brook's MSW/social work program in their Manhattan location (decisions are delayed due to the virus). I'd appreciate hearing about the experience from current or former students, even in the main campus. Here are some specific questions: 1. How were the professors? 2. Was there student diversity and stimulating discussions? 3. Did the connections you made help your career? I'm new to this and I'm not sure anyone would see this. I am grateful for any response I get.

I'm interested in macro level social work with a program rooted in social justice. I have a list of some schools, but if anyone has recommendations for good programs I'd love to hear them!

Hi there, I am thinking about getting my Master's in Social Work in the near future. I have my mind set on becoming a Medical Social Worker and want to work in a hospital setting (With patients and their families). If there is anyone who is also going in the "medical social worker" career, please explain how your experience is so far? (ie: how are your classes?, what are you specializing in?, etc.) Also, I am looking into the University of Maryland, School of Social Work in Baltimore. I looked up the website and it states that there are many different specializations. I don't know which one is for me? And lastly, what is the difference between macro vs micro and clinical concentrations? (You do not have to answer ALL these questions but any type of feedback or advice would work. Your help is much appreciated! Thanks!)

I'm a prospective MSW applicant (applying Fall 2017 for Fall 2018) and would like to reach out to those of you who have already done extensive research on MSW programs. I am primarily interested in working with women, LGBT populations, and those affected by sexual assault and/or sexual/domestic violence. I would like to do research in gender, sexuality, and trauma. Which MSW programs have a strong curriculum in these issues or even offer specific concentrations in violence, gender, or trauma? Where should I look? Thank you!
