Hey all! I am applying for the MASc in Systems Design and Engineering at University of Waterloo for the next winter semester (January 2022). The application deadline is the 31st of May, 2021. Now, I have a couple questions about the proof of English language proficiency. I have graduated from an institute where the language of instruction was English and it states so on the transcript (but English is not the native language in my country). On the University of Waterloo website, it's mentioned that a medium of instruction certificate from the graduating institute will not suffice. However, on the application portal, it is written that if the primary language of instruction of the graduating university is English, an ELP test isn't required. I am confused. Do I need an ELP test or not? Secondly, if I have to give IELTS, the closest available test slot is on the 11th of May, 2021. The test centre has informed me that I would get the results 5 days after the test date, after which I would have to select universities to which to send my scores. From then, it would take another 15-20 days for the online test scores to reach the universities. So, even in the best case scenario, my score would reach the university just on time or a little late. Is it alright if they reach a week or two after the deadline? The rest of my application would be complete and submitted. Only the IELTS score would be a bit delayed. Is that okay? Have any of you been in a situation like this? I’m also applying to McMaster University and have the same query regarding IELTS score deadlines. One last thing, if I add two different programs to the same application, would I have to pay twice the application fee or just once? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sorry about the long post.

Hi everyone, I was looking for some help on figuring this out: I want to do a post-grad certificate before moving onto my Masters (I want to do it in Government Relations at a local college). I'm in third year at the moment. I mainly want to build connections there and do well, and hopefully network+ ask for references from profs I encounter. However, I'm not sure if letters of recommendation from most programs around the country/in Ontario would allow an academic reference not from undergrad is my issue. I'm looking into different types of programs: MPP, MPA, MBA etc and would love to know if anyone has any advice. I do not necessarily want to do a fifth year at my university because I don't want to take out more student loans for the same degree. Hope everyone is doing well.

I applied for the MSc at the MiNDS Program from McMaster University, but didn't hear anything from them. Did anyone hear anything from those guys? Wondering if its just a delay or if I should just accept the failure

Haven't seen any threads on grad school applications to McMaster. Thought I would start one so we could get a sense of what's going on. Applied to the English & Cultural Studies Dept (PhD in English). Waitlisted, so waiting patiently to hear back from the Dept.

Hello, Anyone apply to the Master of Health Informatic program at the University of Toronto or the Master of Science in eHealth program at McMaster University for the Fall 2016 semester. If so, feel free to share your statistics. Please also indicate any communication you have received from the institutions including request for interviews, acceptances, and rejections. I personally applied to both programs with a 3.35 cumulative GPA and 3.7 in my final two years with two years of work experience. My first choice will be UFT. Good luck everyone!

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone has some insight into the psychology graduate program at McMaster and their requirements for the GRE? In their admission requirements section they indicate that the GRE is not mandatory but that it's encouraged. Does anyone know if this means they don't penalize you for poor scores? To give some context, I test very badly due to standardized testing anxiety. My verbal and writing scores are great, but my math is pretty bad ... I'm going to re-take on October 16th, so it may improve. But in the chance that it stays bad, would it be to my detriment to include my GRE scores in my application? Let me know your thoughts! And any other info about the program too and the application procedure would be greatly appreciated

This is my first post here, so please go easy on me with the forum rules I applied to a lot of Computer science and engineering related programs in Canada, out of which UoAlberta's MSc in computing science with specialisation in Multimedia and McMaster's MEng in software engineering and virtual systems design programs were my first choices ( I'm interested in game development, graphics and HCI, so the programs seemed like a good fit ). I got accepted into the program at UoAlberta a while ago, but I'm still waiting for McMaster to give an admission verdict Since I'm an international student, it'll take me a few weeks to get a study permit and visa and all other relevant documentation done before the programs start, and since it's already almost June, I'm a bit worried about my chances to get into McMaster Personally, I wish to get into McMaster because the program seems to be a better fit than Alberta's program by just a little bit. So, can you guys advise me if I should keep waiting for McMaster to give its verdict, or should I just go with the UoAlberta program? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
