  1. Haven't seen any threads on grad school applications to McMaster. Thought I would start one so we could get a sense of what's going on. Applied to the English & Cultural Studies Dept (PhD in English). Waitlisted, so waiting patiently to hear back from the Dept.
  2. Hi Everyone! I have a few questions about McMaster's MSc e-Health program. I read a few things about the program itself and it seems that it's still a little disorganized. However, I was curious as to what the program is actually like and how are the grads of this program are doing now? Also, how are the interviews? How competitive is the program? Also, I know that it says you need a B+ in your final year of undergrad. In my final year, I took a few of my general education courses, would they still include that in calculating the GPA? or would it be the GPA of fourth year courses. I know that for the MPH program at McMaster, they specifically want a B+ in your third and fourth year courses. Also, what are the chances I'll get an interview/chance in this program if my grades from first two years are not as great as my last two years? I'm still debating between MPH and MSc in e-health. I currently have a BSc in Global Health specializing in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. MPH is a little similar to my undergraduate degree but I'm interested in digital health. (Also, looking into MDes in Digital Health at OCAD). I'm all over the place right now, as you can tell. ? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  3. Hey guys, I am PR in Canada and I have completed my medical degree from Pakistan. I graduated in 2016. I have two years of work experience in hospital and community health setup, 2 years of experience working in NGO, and I am currently volunteering in Long term care center in Ontario. My cGPA is 3.3 and my last two years as well as last 20 credits GPA is 3.18. I am planning to apply at Guelph/McMaster/Lakehead/Saskatchewan universities. I know my grades aren't competitive but I am trying to improve my work experience. I am also planning to take statistics course in June. Can you guys please share your experiences of you went through similar circumstances? How did you guys improve your profile? What suggestions can you give me to improve my profile? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
  4. , 2017 (edited) Hi Guys! I don't know if this is the right place to put this thread in, but I couldn't find any similar thread anywhere. So here it goes! All the Masters in Computer Science people who applied in Canadian universities converge here! Share your heart out, how you're dealing with the stress of waiting it out I know it's still early days for admits and rejects but here goes my applied list: UBC, Toronto, Alberta, Western, McMaster, Ottawa, Carletom, Windsor, Lakehead Course: Computer Science Masters in Science/ MscAC/MAC
  5. Hey guys, I am hoping someone who has attended either Uoft, UWO or McMaster for their MPH program can help provide some insight on the strengths and weaknesses of the program they attended. I am not really looking to do a thesis, but I love the idea of a practicum or cumulative project and a team oriented learning environment So what really sets these programs apart from each other? Thanks
  6. Hello! I'm wondering if anyone has some insight into the psychology graduate program at McMaster and their requirements for the GRE? In their admission requirements section they indicate that the GRE is not mandatory but that it's encouraged. Does anyone know if this means they don't penalize you for poor scores? To give some context, I test very badly due to standardized testing anxiety. My verbal and writing scores are great, but my math is pretty bad ... I'm going to re-take on October 16th, so it may improve. But in the chance that it stays bad, would it be to my detriment to include my GRE scores in my application? Let me know your thoughts! And any other info about the program too and the application procedure would be greatly appreciated

  8. This is my first post here, so please go easy on me with the forum rules I applied to a lot of Computer science and engineering related programs in Canada, out of which UoAlberta's MSc in computing science with specialisation in Multimedia and McMaster's MEng in software engineering and virtual systems design programs were my first choices ( I'm interested in game development, graphics and HCI, so the programs seemed like a good fit ). I got accepted into the program at UoAlberta a while ago, but I'm still waiting for McMaster to give an admission verdict Since I'm an international student, it'll take me a few weeks to get a study permit and visa and all other relevant documentation done before the programs start, and since it's already almost June, I'm a bit worried about my chances to get into McMaster Personally, I wish to get into McMaster because the program seems to be a better fit than Alberta's program by just a little bit. So, can you guys advise me if I should keep waiting for McMaster to give its verdict, or should I just go with the UoAlberta program? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Hi every one. I have a question and it's kinda emergency. Can you please help? I got the admission for Mcmaster university for fall 2017 master program and I accepted the offer, but the problem is that the offer is a conditional one. It states that (here is the exact sentences from the offer): This offer is conditional upon the receipt of an official transcript confirming that your Bachelor's degree has been conferred with at least a B- average in the final year (in the discipline you are entering) I assume B- is equal to 2.7/4. I understand that B- is not a high GPA but the problem is that last semester, I did not do well at all. Currently, I am studying for my final exams (for the last semester) but I'm afraid I cannot meet this condition. My professor is very interested to have me in his research group and my overall GPA is still above the minimum required to be accepted in McMaster, but I predict my final year GPA will not be so good. I am really worried about the situation. Will my offer really be rescinded if I don't meet the condition or I can do something about it? Thank you
  10. Hi, Does anyone here have any idea if McMaster University has sent out a second round of offers for M.Sc. Mathematics (thesis)? If not, do you have any idea when they might? Also, do Canadian places like McMaster and Queen's require that people accept offers by April 15th? thanks.
  11. I am writing the GRE specific to the English Literature subject at McMaster University in less than two weeks and I still have not been informed about which room it is written in. The test is at 8:30 am and I am coming all the way from Toronto, so it is important for me to know the room ahead of time. Does anybody know where it is usually written or does the room change constantly? If so, how soon would I be expected to find out the room? Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi all! Does anyone seem to know the main pros and cons between these two programs? I want to apply to one, but I cannot decide which one. The HRM seems really good to me and has a co-op option whereas the MPH is 1 year and is a relatively new program. Any insight to any of these programs will be greatly appreciated! Best, T
