I've applied to several Low Res MFA programs. I'm a returning student and did not expect all these acceptances. Additionally, two schools have offered funding ranging from one-third to one-half. The other 3 have told me that there are offers but they do not yet have numbers available. Commuting is possible at SVA. The others would require 6-8 weeks per year in a dorm which sounds more hellish every time I think about it. Should I put on my big girl panties and go to SAIC as it is my first choice? Is it worthwhile t

But the price tag is very high... Anyone else thinking of these programs? SVA Products of Design MICA Social Design with $15,000 scholarship Parsons Design and Technology with 20% scholarship

I am curious as to why people choose the programs they chose. What are the strengths and offerings of each program that makes them so attractive to you? One thing in my research I have a tuff time finding out is why people are applying to the programs they are applying to. For instance, I want to apply to Columbia because of their faculty mentorship to students. Each student are teamed up with 2 mentors who regularly visit your studio, and go onto outings together with. A friend of mine who attended the program even curated a show with one of her mentors. For RISD, I have read that they foc

Hey Grad Cafe, I'm a life-long sufferer of anxiety, who recently experienced a really bad bout of it after I started grad school at MICA in the fall of 2014. Lots of self-doubt, crippling panic attacks and a struggle to find adequate mental health care. So, for my graduate thesis project at MICA, I've been working on an app that translates anxiety therapy and self-care techniques into fun adventure games. Basically, my goal is to develop a tool that helps fill gaps in mental health care experienced by so many millennials. I recently started a non-profit crowdfunding campaign to supp
