  1. Hi My profile is as follows: Bachelors in Computer Engineering from India - Mumbai University GRE: 296 TOEFL: 99 Work Experience: 3 years as a software developer GPA: 6.29/10 Can you please recommend universities in USA for MS in MIS and MS in CS (open to both)? Since my GRE is on the lower end, I will first prefer to apply at universities that are not considering GRE scores. Thanks!
  2. Hello all, I'm a current final year biotechnology student and will be graduating in '21. I plan to do masters in US. However, after doing some research & going through universities and their courses, i have begun to develop interest in courses which are completely different from my undergrad. For e.g, i like Masters in Business Analytics (MSBA), Masters in Management Information Systems(MIS). I'm kind of reluctant to apply for MIS, MSBA...because 1)i feel my chances of getting selected in good schools are close to NIL (because my undergrad isnt't in the relevant area) 2) Should i apply for courses outside Biotechnology (considering i'm applying right after undergrad- fresher) or should i take work exp and then apply for MIS/MSBA? What are my chances of getting into courses like MIS, MSBA..?? Profile- 8.5/10 Biotech undergrad, have knowledge in C, Java (worked on a project) & Python. Also done courses on Clinical Data analytics. It would be of so much help if anyone could give suggestions/ideas with regards to my profile. It would help in getting clarity. Thank you so much, cheers!!

However, after doing some research & going through universities and their courses, i have begun to develop interest in courses which are completely different from my undergrad. For e.g, i like Masters in Business Analytics (MSBA), Masters in Management Information Systems(MIS). I'm also inclined towards Health Informatics (MHI) but not many universities offer them. I'm kind of reluctant to apply for MIS, MSBA...because 1)i feel my chances of getting selected in good schools are close to NIL. 2) Should i apply for courses outside Biotechnology( considering i'm applying right after undergrad- fresher) What are my chances of getting into courses like MIS, MSBA..?? Also, will it be diificult to find job after masters considering i won't have exp in related fields? Profile- 8.5/10 Biotech undergrad, have knowledge in C, Java (worked on a project) & Python. Also done courses on Clinical Data analytics. It would be of so much help if anyone could give suggestions/ideas with regards to my profile. It would help in getting clarity. 4. Hello, I had applied for CMU MISM 12 months course, whereas I intended to apply for the 16 months course. I understand that this is a grave mistake from my end. The reason I was opting for the 16 months is that my undergrad is not related to programming so the 16 months course would be better for me. Do you think it would be sensible to mail the admissions committee and ask them to consider me for the 16 months course?
  5. Hello, I am currently doing my master degree (Management Information Systems - MIS). Due to some circumstances, I was unable to pursue a thesis option, but I certainly want to apply for MIS PhD programs in 2019 (Mainly in Canada, and US) I have the opportunity to enrol in three courses in my final semester that deals with: Research Methods, Survey Data Analysis, and and Reading Topic (a course where we select a topic of interest and produce Lit Review on it). Do you think such courses would be sufficient to satisfy PhD admission committee on my research skills & background? Or does a thesis sounds much more competitive? - RE: GRE/GMAT: don't have any, and wouldn't want to invest further. Please share your thoughts, thank you!
  6. I got an admit for Information Systems course in UMCP. I couldn't find any reviews about it. Can anyone help me with it? How good is the course? How are the job opportunities?Should I go with it? As I have to submit 1000$ to reserve my seat by 15th of Feb. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
  7. Hi, Grads. I am an applicant for phd program of business school and my major includes 1) business analytics, 2) MIS and 3) Management Science or Quantitative methods. My GRE score is V - 152, Q - 164, AW - 4.0 and my dream schools are U of Washington, U of Pittsburgh, U of Iowa and U of Western Ontario. As a matter of fact, these schools are outside top 30 except U of Washington and most of the schools I am applying to range from 50 ~ 100. As far as I searched, I found from the websites that the required GRE score from my future majors are slightly lower than those of Marketing, OBHR and Management. How do you evaluate my GRE score? I am worrying about being screened from the first stage due to my insufficient GRE score. Thank you for your answers in advance.
  8. Hi everyone! I just officially accepted my offer from the University of Ottawa in Information Studies a few minutes ago and I'm very excited I was wondering if anyone else on this website is also going to be a student in this program in the fall and would like to connect via Facebook group or something! Also, if any Ottawa residents have any recommendations for finding housing (other than checking kijiji and the student housing billboard), please post them here! Gotta find a place to live soon...
