  1. I was comparing these two universities generally on a site called startclass, and then stumbled across this criterion: Crime Statistics. Can someone make some sense of this disparity - why does the number of reported crimes at UNC Chapel hill seem to be almost double that of Mizzou? Does it have to do with the crime rate in these states in general, or does it have to do with the size and culture of these particular universities? I haven't yet compared any other universities on this criterion. Could these stats be flawed - if so how?

  3. While I'm waiting to hear back from PhD programs at other schools- I thought I'd extend a helping hand to anyone considering a Missouri graduate program. I've done my undergrad (Broadcast Journalism) and Masters (Journalism) at MU. I would love to stay for my PhD, if not for that whole unwritten rule about "academic inbreeding". When I applied for my MA, I got the acceptance letter via email in March (if that helps anyone looking for a general timeframe).   4. So I have been up all night trying to figure out where the hell I want to go. I feel a lot like this Iady. I figured I would apply to five schools and go where ever I got in. Jokes on me, I got into every single one except Columbia. While I realize this is NOT the worst problem to have, hear me out. The Lucky Four: Berkeley NYU - Reporting in NY Mizzou CUNY Now I really love Berkeley's program, and as a life long New Yorker, it might be great to get the hell out of dodge, but NY is where everything is happening! And then there is Mizzou.... which is in the middle of no where, but
