  1. I called them last week, they said we should hear about funding by the end of this week!

    Any opinions?

Hi All! I'm pretty torn between grad schools right now and was hoping that some of you could possibly provide me with your opinions. I've been accepted to Columbia University, Northeastern University, Boston University and waitlisted to MGH. I am leaning towards medical speech pathology, so a big factor in my decision are the surrounding hospitals. I am originally from NY so I think right now the major issue is deciding what city I want to pursue my Masters in. I've always loved Boston but I'm not sure if starting this chapter in an unfamiliar setting is the best choice. If there are any graduate students who are in these programs or simply if you have any insight I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!!
  3. Hey guys, i've been accepted into University of California Irvine and Northeastern University, Boston for Computer Engineering. I'm having a hard time deciding which would be a better choice.
  4. I am currently deciding between UCSD Nanoengineering PhD and Northeastern Bioengineering PhD and am having some difficulty deciding. Has anyone not liked anything about northeastern, or what turned you away. P.S. If you've got info on Nanoengineering and UCSD too please don't hold back. Everything helps
  5. Hi everyone! I just got an email inviting me to interview at Northeastern University, which I am super excited about but I am a little confused because I did not realize they interview! I couldn't find any information on the website about an interview, and I chatted with professors/students at their ASHA table and an interview was never mentioned. Does anyone know any information regarding the interview/am I missing something?
  6. I got acceptances from both last week. I am leaning towards Utah for the large campus and scenic surroundings. Other than being able to live in Boston, are there good reasons to choose Northeastern?
  7. Anyone thinking about attending Northeastern University in Boston? I am from California and am pretty positive I will be attending this fall / would LOVE to connect with others thinking about attending! Also if anyone has any insight on the program or about moving to Boston in general I would love to hear it! I have absolutely no friends or family in the Boston area and am nervous to move so far away from home. Is it easy to make friends in the program and in Boston? Where do students usually live? What are the clinical placements like? Anything helps!!! SO excited
  8. Hey fellas, How's it goin' for ya? I'm still waiting for a single admission. no answer up to now. ucsd, uci, northeastern -> chemical engineering ucr, uic ,uiuc -> bioengineering all phd. is there anybody heard from these programs at these univs? should I have hope for any admission letter? ------------------------------profile------------------------------------ TOEFL:104-IELTS:7-GRE GENERAL:146(v)168(q)-GPA:3.60 with a year or two related research exprience.
  9. Choosing between a Bio PhD program at Northeastern and a BME PhD program at RPI. Both fully funded with professors of interest, but I'm torn between what might be a more reputable school (RPI) further out of the way and further out of my comfort zone (coming from Boston College) and a school with more connections (NEU) but a less reputable program. I hope to specialize in regenerative medicine and eventually go into industry working in R & D or a biotech startup. My gut tells me NEU, but I also realize I'm heavily biased toward the familiarity of Boston. Freaking out a bit sonce decision time is only days away! Any thoughts?

    The FINAL Decision

Choosing between a Bio PhD program at Northeastern and a BME PhD program at RPI. 11. Hello, I would like this to be a forum for you as an applicant, current student, or alumni of any Boston speech-language pathology programs to post your insight, experience, knowledge or advice comparing the schools. I know I am not the only one who applied to more than one school in the Boston area so I would like help on choosing which one to attend! (I have been accepted to MGH and Northeastern) but this can be for all 4 programs! Some questions include.. Why did you choose X program What kind of training / orientation is there prior to beginning clinic? How are clients paired with students? Do we decide on clinical placement site? Surviving without car? How are classes/workload? challenging but possible? Work life balance? Can you still enjoy boston? Describe typical day?? Do you feel comfortable with supervisors? Asking for help? Classmate interaction?
  12. I would like to make a facebook group for the 2018 Speech-Language Pathology cohort at Northeastern University in Boston. In order to make the group, I need to invite another person and I am unsure of anyone else going! If you have accepted your admission and will be attending in the fall, let me know so I can make a group! Then we can all get to know each other!
  13. What are the general reputations of BU and Northeastern for a PhD in theoretical computer science? Is one significantly better than the other? I like them both so its a tough decision... and funding is nearly identical
  14. Hi all, I will be attending Northeastern University beginning this fall for Ph.D, I've come across something in the immunization report that could be very problematic however, so I'm hoping for some help. In the documentation, it gives the following instructions for the Hepatitis B vaccination: "Series of 3 doses: the second dose at least 1 month after the first, the third at least 2 months after the second and 4 months after the first." Since it's almost June, even if I get the first dose right now, according to the instructions, I will not be able to get my 3rd dose until October. My term starts in September and the documentation has to be submitted 1 month prior to that. Can anyone who knows something about this or has prior experience please explain whether this will be a problem and if so how to get around it? Thanks. Link to the document I have to fill up and submit: http://www.northeastern.edu/uhcs/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/2016-17-Health-Report-Meningitis-Waiver.pdf
  15. Dear All, Have you had and experience regarding Network Science PhD Program at Northeastern University? This program is pretty new and there is not much out there about it. We can share any information regarding this program (admission results, funding, course-work, your profile if you got admitted, accommodation, etc) under this topic. I f you have information or you know someone who has please share here Regards,
  16. I was accepted to Northeastern last month (my first choice - yay!!!) and will be attending in the Fall. I am also a veteran (6 years Active Duty Navy - Arabic Cryptologic Linguist) and will be using my Post-9/11 G.I. Bill and the Yellow Ribbon Program to pay for both years of tuition. I just wanted to reach out to see if there are any other veterans or military members in the SLP forums who have any experience with the Yellow Ribbon Program. I used my G.I. bill to pay for my post-bacc, but because I took the courses at a state school I didn't need to worry about using the Y.R.P. to cover additional expenses. I have already submitted my Y.R.P. application to Northeastern's veteran's office and am just waiting to register for courses at this point, I suppose. I have read accounts of Y.R.P. awardees also getting free parking passes at Northeastern (which would be incredible since passes cost somewhere near $500 per semester - yikes!) and an additional book stipend from Northeastern...I sent an email to the vet's office asking about those specific perks but have yet to get a response. I posted this topic in reddit's SLP grad student forum but haven't gotten any comments...figured I'd give it a shot here!

    bioinformatics jobs

Hello everyone, I wanna join the bioinformatics MS program at Northeastern[Boston].. Does their co-op program guarantee a job? how are the salaries initially? would be a great help if someone sheds some light on this..i am a non US citizen
  18. I received and acceptance to UMass Amherst Master's MechE program and am waiting Northeastern. Normally I would have chosen UMass for the lower tuition as I plan on pursuing an MBA afterwords. Since I'm out of state it seems like there isn't much of a difference in cost of attendance, or at least not enough for me to dismiss NEU because of the it. My question is how are the two schools received on the east coast? I've been in CA my entire life and am wondering if employers prefer graduates from one school? Anyone know what the academic culture is like? I was emailed by the NEU Gordon Eng Leadership program outreach and the coordinator encouraged me to apply to that program as well. I'm very interested in it and am wondering if there are any Gordon Fellows out there? Does anyone know how much employers value this certificate? On that note the coordinator was speaking to me as if I was already enrolled but I haven't heard from NEU yet. anyone else with a similar experience? (hopefully with a positive result )
