    Columbia MSW Program

Hi! I am planning on applying to Columbia's MSW Online Advanced Standing Program here in the fall, I was hoping someone who applied in past years or who might be in the program can give me some insight as to what they might be looking for, how to make me a more competitive candidate or anything to help out a stressed college student. Thank you much!
  2. Hello! I’m looking into online/distance SLP grad programs. I’m already $65k in debt, so I don’t want to pay more than $15k per year (I’m located in CA so I know there’s some restrictions because of the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA). I have good grades (3.8+ GPA, great LoC’s and above avg GRE scores). I got accepted to emerson and NYU with scholarships but it didn’t cover enough of the cost. I really like North Colorado University, CSUN, and Akron University. Id prefer to do my clinical practice/extends hips towards the end of the program because I’m working as a nanny and committed to 1.5 years, they are flexible and will allow me to travel up to 3 weeks for clinical/labs. What is your best experience?
  3. Hello all! Has anyone heard anything about the University of Montana's online SLP program? I am interested in it but can not find any info on it? Is anyone in the program? Is anyone planning to apply this fall? Thanks in advance!!
  4. I'm about to enroll in a University of Phoenix online "Fundamentals of Physics" course. Does anyone have experience with this class (quality of teaching or difficulty?) or any other prerequisites with University of Phoenix? I've seen plenty negative reviews on Univ. of Phoenix, but since I'm just doing a single course, I'm hoping it won't be too bad. The math placement exam was HARD for me! Is the difficulty of that test indicative of the difficulty of the course?? Thanks!
  5. HI! I'm interested in applying to SLP online programs. The ones I'm interested in are Baylor, Emerson and NYU for January 2020. Is anyone else also applying? Or is anyone currently in any of these programs? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Online MPH programs

Hi all, I’ve been accepted to two online MPH programs — Michigan and Dartmouth — and am having a lot of trouble deciding between the two. Both will cost me about the same. I plan to work full time during the program and use the degree to move up within my current field (management consulting). I understand Michigan has an actual School of Public Health, whereas Dartmouth’s program is housed within the medical school. Does this matter? Which will look better to employers (should I decide to move firms)? Both programs look fascinating but focus on different areas of public health. Dartmouth’s program is hybrid (requires 3 campus visits a year) and has a heavy emphasis on quality improvement, policy, and data analysis. Michigan’s program is completely online and more of a traditional MPH. I have one week to make a decision! Any feedback/input would be greatly appreciated!
  7. I had been rejected from UT Austin's on campus MS CS for Fall 19 and they offered me an online MS admit instead. The program is new, starting in Fall 19. While I have an admit from another lesser ranked school, Austin was my first choice. I have heard Georgia Tech allows you to convert from the online program to the on campus one after a year. Can I join the other school and transfer to UT Austin's on campus MS CS after a semester? What do they usually look for when transferring schools? I know its a long shot, given that I have already been handed out a reject, but wanted to know my options and chances. Thanks in Advance.

    Online or reapply?

I got accepted to NYU and Emerson's online SLP programs recently but both are very expensive. Also, Emerson's program has clinical placements starting very soon (I work) and I'd have to take a pre-requisite that would put me back another $4k. I only applied to these two schools because I didn't have the GRE/letters of rec figured out before the CSDCAS deadline. I was banking on financial aid to help me since I'm now considered an independent and got an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $0. I submitted it sorta late, like mid April and added the two schools last week. I already have ~$60k of debt and don't want to go into any more. I have decent stats; 151V, 149Q, 4.5W 3.84 cumulative, 3.75 department GPA and lots of experience with research/ABA. Should I pick NYU/Emerson or should I reapply next year, pay off some loans and then choose?

    CSUSB MSW ONLINE 2019

Hi there everyone! I applied to CSUN, CSUSB, and LSU for their MSW online programs. Has anyone heard anything? I have received emails from all of them that they have my applications, but nothing more than that. CSUSB sent me an email saying I was accepted by the school now I need acceptance into the school of social work. fingers crossed. They are my first choice, since it is the cheapest program.

    Online Advice for Grad Students

Hi all! I know I am just an applicant, but I wanted to share some online advice/things grad students can relate to that I found. https://www.fastweb.com/college-search/articles/the-50-things-only-grad-students-will-understand https://www.fastweb.com/college-search/articles/the-12-grad-school-survival-tips I think it would be awesome if we could create a collection of online things for new grad students, or just grad students in general, here.

    NYU Speech Online

Okay so I have a bit of an odd question regarding NYUs online speech program. I applied to the program but it is not offered in the state that I currently live in. My husband has another home in another state in which the program is offered. I used that address because I am always there anyway-- I spend about 40% of my time there and 60% where I currently am. I currently have a job offer in the state I am currently in (where the program is technically not offered) and am considering taking it but does anyone think that it will affect anything? I keep telling myself its not bc the classes are all online so it doesn't really matter where I am, so long as I am in the other state by the time I do clinicals right? ? Someone please help me lol, I would really appreciate anyone's feedback.

    LSU MSW ONLINE 2019

Has anyone else applied to LSU MSW ONLINE program?
  14. Hello I am a prospective MPA/MPP/M.Dev student and I have applied to a couple of policy and administration programs for the Fall 2019 session. My grades in my earlier education are not good especially in Statistics and Calculus. I am not too hopeful that I will be getting admits at good colleges this session as my essays were also not upto the mark. I am ready to put in serious efforts for the next year application cycle and I want to start with the prerequisite courses (Stats and Calculus). I was wondering where can I take such courses for which credit are accepted by colleges like HKS, WWS, Chicago, Sanford etc (Coursera and eDx are not accepted as mentioned in the college websites). Although open to both online/offline, my preference remains online courses as I am located in India. Please let me know Thanks

    MFA creative writing

Hi! So I didn’t get in anywhere for an MFA In Creative Writing. I’m now trying to look into different options. Does anyone know good programs that are either online and still have open admissions or places with rolling admissions?

    Online MPA Advice

Hi everyone! I need some insight! I have about 5 years of professional work under my belt (all nonprofit, in development/fundraising) and have recently decided that I need an additional degree/accreditation to get myself where I want to go, career-wise (more into policy/program management than development). I already have an MA in the humanities (literature). I don't really want to work in local/federal government and am more interested in private/international/policy-based organizations. I am looking at online MPA programs because at this point I just can't afford going back to school full-time and need the flexibility to keep working. The thing is, I don't know where to start in choosing a program! I have been researching options and so far my top 4 are: American MPAP (I like the policy element) Rutgers MPA (well-regarded program) John Jay at CUNY MPA (I have a particular interest in criminal justice!) USC Price MPA (really really highly ranked) I also have UNC, Johns Hopkins, U Nebraska-Omaha, UPenn, and Columbia on the list (Columbia is offering a fully online MPA come 2020!). I know that at the end of the day an online degree and a brick-and-mortar one are the same to employers, and as long as I work hard I can get the same out of an online degree as I could a traditional one, but I have no experience with distance learning so I just don't know what I am really looking for when deciding where to apply/attend. I know this is a really big investment (time and money) so I want to make sure I make the right choice and balance prestige with quality of learning and value. Do any of you have any experience with these online MPAs? Insights into what I should look for when deciding? Other programs I should be looking at instead/in addition? Ideas where I should turn for further advice? Any and all input much appreciated! thank you!
  17. Hello, I am looking to hear from those who are or who have been a distance GRADUATE SLP student. What was your experience like? I personally can do the traditional on campus student experience right now, but in a year my situation could change. Therefore I am wondering if it is smarter to attend a distance program from the very beginning. Do you feel like you learned the material well? or do you wish you would have had more of the on campus research experience, and clinical involvement? Thank you for your advice.
  18. Hi everyone, Has anyone applied for the UC Berkeley online MPH for the spring semester? If so, what were your GRE scores/GPA and have you heard back yet? Thanks!

  20. Hi there! Does anyone have any suggestions for an online non-degree neuroanatomy class? My local community colleges don't offer one and have been looking for an online one that would count for a pre-req, but still letting my travel to go home. My father is very sick and I help take care of him/visit and spend time, any suggestions would be very appreciated!
  21. Hi everyone, I'm interested in the online Master of Science degree in Applied Economics at the University of North Dakota. I currently live in North Dakota, and am curious if anyone has been in this program or knows anything more about it that can't be gleaned from the program website. Thanks.

    Online language class

Does anyone know an affordable school I can take an online intro to Spanish (Spanish 100) class at? My program is requiring a language class and I prefer to take it at a community college for it to be cheaper. I prefer to pay less than $200 per unit if possible!
  23. I want to transfer from Bellevue U. (online) my ample credits (none in psych) into the cheapest 100% online school offering the greatest diversity of undergrad psych programs. 24. I am a non-traditional student (in my 50s) looking for a part-time online MSW program that I can afford. It must be 100% online. I will be working days, so asynchronous classes are important. I have been accepted to U of Louisville for Fall 2018. I'm looking into Western New Mexico University as a very affordable option, with a more realistic time frame for completion (6 credits a semester). Does anyone have any experience with WNMU? How about Edinboro? I am looking to specialize in military social work after graduation. Thanks for sharing any insights!
